i vote for Salang for 2 reasons..

1) it has more life for after diving.

2) more importantly it is closer to the fav dive sites mentioned by run and siu. and that jetty takes on a whole new character at night. Salang just feels like a dive city (huh, sin city ? @run..where?) and i like the chalets that is built on stilts. salang indah? but this is from 2 yrs back...since the coral bleached i have not dived there.

i used to dive with a particular DC at Tekek, and he would not take me to Chebeh unless there was 6 in his boat!! and he would not tell me that he needed top-up. i have stopped going there. sawadee is a warm welcome but not the wreck !

yes, the duty free kedai @Tekek is an attraction by itself but i am guessing if there are enough of us the DC at Salang might be convinced to send us there by boat after one of our dives on the first day---to take pictures u understand? (wink, wink) yes, the prices are worth the travelling.
alamak, the tank goes at the back??

I'll go with option 2.

Tekek or Salang, I'm ok with either. :)

Hi Guys.....still no recommandations on DC yet?  Salang and Tekek no problem for me but at this moment I see that it's heavier towards Salang. And better set the dates fast......need to arrange off days/leave.
Salang I've only dived with B&J but I find their dive too slow. Former Fisherman Divers now Marine Monkeys (I think) uses speed boats.

Hello peeps! Sorry as I have been away in pulau weh (hey, it kinda rhymes! Lol). Anyhow, tioman is a huge island with lots to offer for all levels of divers. And because of this, your dive sites would probably be limited to the ones closes to your chosen DC. Though north tioman has always been a crowd favorite, the south end has its own surprises. Anyway, all DCs especially the old ones are pretty ok. So take your pick guys. As for me, I'm familiar with salang , paya and tekek I guess.but in the end a good dive trip is always due to the people you go with and not so much the place. :azn:
getting narc'ed is the highlight of my day.

JJtan: alright.

To the rest, JJtan recommended we stay in "Salang Indah Resort". Any objection?

Let me know your thoughts by this Thursday, 31 Jan.

Cheers!

it will be group booking for better rate. That why I need to know whether you guys are okay with Salang Indah Resort. What I gather from trip advior...there are good and bad comments and we can also view the pictures taken from previous guests.

Well let me know what you think, and I will start negotiating the rates with the DC

cheers

Hey guys,

Salang Indah Resort only have rooms and their rates is RM120 per room per night for 4 without breakfast. And the resort only provide accommodation.

How about the dives and equipments? Because people like "ME" doesn't have equipments hence will there be a dive center we can rent from? Also how about the arrangement of boats!

EXPRESSODUPIO and RAFFIDI, I need help on this!

Re: Tioman Dive

Post Number:#51  Postby run » Mon Feb 04, 2013 2:43 pm

let me help you geraldyne with the estimation cost.
RM120 x2 nights = RM240/4 = RM60
Breakfast = RM10x 2 = RM20
Lunch = Rm15 x3 =RM 30
Afternoon snack/tea time : RM10x2 =RM20 (if you want to skip the snack time then do the shore dives)
Dinner = RM20 x 2 =RM40 (u’ll get crazy hungry by this time)
Dives = RM75 x 4 =RM 300 (own equipment). The cheapest I could get last time with Azmi Dive centre RM70 perdive(with own equipment)
Renting gears full gears range RM50-RM60 perday , if you have good frenz..rent with them half price :P
Ferry = RM70
Total damage perperson = RM540 ++ (RM60x2days rent gears)

Dont forget the duty free shop $++
