this is a reminder to all our diver frens whom is travelling by air!
2 weeks ago went to redang with frens. travelled via flight AirAsia to KT. On my return flight from KT, check-in my luggage as usual and had it locked. When arrive KL bag looks ok lock intact. Didnt bother much. Reach home unpack...and damn... realise that my luggage was tampered and several items were missing from my bag. (a pouch tat had my uw casing & dive torch, surface marker pouch, a bag tat had all my cables & chargers etc and both of my mask pouch - wats worst 1 of the mask belongs to my buddy and its priscription mask).
as usual, airasia is not contactable via phone so tried
few options like thru their FB , twitter and even Tony's twitter. Airasia FB replied "pls fill in our eForm". Form filled and response was it will take 5 working days to revert. Until to-date stillno reply. I did a police report but there is nothing much can be done it seems. Manage to get Airasia lost & found baggege tel but the lady incharge says it not their dept but you may come to lcct to file for report.
Unfortunate for me is tat since i was stupid enuff not to buy insurance for this trip which i normally wud do, there is nothing can be done!! Thank gudness i had my reg handcarried and both me & my buddy bcd was still in the bag..(maybe too bulky to steal)
perhaps cling wrap your check-in luggage wud be much safer.

Posted in youtube. Its so easy to open up the luggage bag.
I think best one could do is to wrap it. Like the video said buy times. Making it more time consuming for one to consider opening your luggage than the one next to yours.

sorry for your misadventure.......
i did travel with airasia and firefly before with mares cruise bag before, never bothered to lock the bag just zip it.....don't know if anything missing hehe.....to many zip lah, 4 set of zips.....
just wonder what type of bag you used? diving bag or normal duffel or luggage bag.....
most of senior divers i met, will not used diver bag but using normal bag without diver flag or bag with equipments brand such as aqualung, mares, scubapro etc.....
some using the north face duffel bag (base camp), so that nobody know there is dive equipments/gears inside it......

mamakpenang do be careful. Other than stuff gettin stolen, smugglers can smuggle bad stuff inside your bag if you dont lock it.
We dont know what kind of people work at the airport.
Just a precaution. Especially for people travel alone.
I either use cable tight or small locks. With the cable tight i tied it differently so that i know if my bag has been tampered with.
i took pictures too.
If things lost or stolen , we can buy it but if we get arrested for a crime we dont commit then that just scuks!
Pray non of us face such situation.
