The one that should be blame is their guide, they should educate the tourist for not touching marine life. I assume the snorkellers are naive, they dont know that touching turtle can bring negative impact.

it seems that the operator even add a picture on its banner showing a snorkeler holding a turtle. Almost like a tag "come use my travel agency and you will get to hold a turtle".

very much thank you kimseng for highlighting this matter to the forum coz we found out that this guide has made this a regular practise to all its customers. We have found a siries of videos and pictures from the operator's own album collection showing such action.

content removed. but sadly am sure the practice will go on, with ignorant tourists and 'tidak-kesah' workers and tour operators.

NO! it must be stop. If happen again then we will again put a stop to it. If you are a concern citizen and a responsible diver. You will try to put a stop to it.
no matter how your method is even sharing a video helps.

Is it anyway that we can report it to the authorities to take action against such tour operators?

dont worry. Already done. Now the operator has been contacted. They have  given their words to put a stop on such act.
To those in perhentian maybe you guys can at least keep them in view whether they keep their words or not.

Thank you again for those who has shared the video in the FB.

Problem with that are, they might be countless operators out there that practice the same doing and there are no reports on it.

Operators should be educating the publics on endangered wildlife or sea creature, and practice see no touch policy. They do not understand they are destroying the very creature that feeding them. These acts are no different from Fish bombing, the impact are just as devastating.

divers also practice these sort of things, harrassing the animals. brought it up with the DM/tour guide. but i think he too 'nice' and dont wanna tell off the paying customers. unlike mat salleh DMs who brief divers properly on eco-diving principles. oh, i think Turtle Bay Perhentian did a good job too. and Eco-Divers Tioman. three cheers.

yeah i agree sometimes i see pro-am shooters underwater arranging marine creatures to get that 'winning shot' thus traumatising them. i am thinking what the hell, shoot lah, if come back they face you then shoot again. why must handle??

and yes tour-guides/ dm's all have the greatest burden of educating the public on conservation.

heard a horror story about this DM in Anilao that screamed underwater when one of his clients--east asian--origin, knifed a frogfish after shooting 20 shots of it!!!

on land he screamed at the guy, the translator said he does not want anybody to have another shot of that beautiful frogfish!!!

WTF ?? like that ppl also got...thats the worst case of handling i have ever heard.
alamak, the tank goes at the back??
