NEAR DROWN IN TIOMAN SALANG

Post Number:#1  Postby AACADVENTURE » Tue May 26, 2009 12:28 am

I would like to put this heroic incident in record!

Kondo to Ben's(managing director )for BNJ Salang and Riduan(Managing Director) of Fisherman Dive at Salang on the excellence coordination and heroic act that will make salang a safe place to dive for.

Their act shows that neighbourhood dive centre able to work together in any case what so ever !!!

On last weekend 22nd May 2009, there was a near drown case at Salang, but it was not a diver but a snokeller this time. I was there when the time happens but did not witness how it happen and nobody did too. The man was discovered floating at the beach.

HOW ?

Ben's from of B N J Salang was waiting for the dive boat at the jetty, when he heard a screaming (death scream, difference type of scream), as he is pro in the water, he able to judge type of screaming, if it was a playing in water or in need of help in the water. He ignored it at first but he felt that something was not right. He looks into far and saw a lady was swimming and the lady was seen to be ok and able to swim but not that good. Subsequenly, he saw a something floating behind the lady and release that it was a head of a person in the water but not moving. Ben knows that something is wrong. Luckily, his boat arrived at the jetty and quickly rush to the location without delay!

Upon reaching, he saw a man with the face downward floating but he does not know how long the victim was in that position. Immediately he pulled the victim up(a male chinese ) the boat and proceed back to the jetty. CPR was given and the man started to cough out water. Upon hearing the incident, Riduan ( Fisherman Dive centre in Salang ) came rushing and assisted in the rescue mission, he brought along a oxygen gear and provide the victim. Subsequenly I came along and assist ( but not much ) hahahaaha. We manage to get a speed boat and transfer the victim to Tekek village for the treatment and he subsequenly conveyed to Mersing. it was informed that the victim was snorkeling at the nearby reef. He was discovered holding his snorkel and the mask was still on his face with full of form coming out from his nose. But the victim was not in life jacket!!!!

To what was disappointed me is that, me as a outsider, we have a difficulty to request people ( local ) around us on the speed boat to convey the victim to tekek urgently but no one willing to help.  :$ reason not enough patrol , or need to pay him .. this is crap man !!!!

Only god know who the guys is !!!

It takes almost a 1/2 hrs to manage a speed boat and convey him. I don't know much about his condition but was informed that the guy was in critical condition.

What impressed me is that, although ben and riduan ( diver organisation) had no doubt or discremination on whether a divers or a swimmer or a snorkellers need help, they are there willing to help and assist without asking for anything!!!!

Nice work you two !!! Let give them a thousand claps  everyone !! CHEER !!!

Kudos to Ben and Ridz! Their fast action and their unselfish act might have saved that guy's life. It is nice too to hear people from the dive operations are the most helpful! Absolutely assuring to hear that.

And many thanks to AACADVENTURE too for highlighting this incident.

I wouldn't go overboard into condemning those that demanded money. Send to Tekek = petrol = $$$$$. But if they really trying to make a profit out of this, then ...............
