Sabas Explorer, Pulau Tinggi

Sabas Explorer, Pulau Tinggi

Hi there divers,

I think its about time to introduce Pulau Tinggi, Johor to the masses.

To those who are unfamiliar, Pulau Tinggi is located somewhere nearby from Pulau Sibu. Best way to get there is via Tanjung Leman jetty, about an hour's drive south of Mersing. The island itself is a bit secluded and there are no daily transfer boats so arrangements (preferably groups) need to be made before hand. Electricity is regulated 24/7 from TNB solar and diesel generators so u dont hav to worry about busting your batteries. Fresh water is also abundant...supplied from directly from the the hills, we enjoy 'air bukit' evryday!

Diving around Pulau Tinggi is easy and shallow. Most sites are between 10-15m depth and average visibility is around 8-10m. Regarding marine life, its more macro life rather than big stuff. Sea grass areas do provide feeding grounds for dugongs but although they can be sited on the surface, dugongs are extremely shy and i personally have never encountered one yet during diving..maybe one day. There is 1 wreck (fishing vessel) nearby at about 25m depth but weather conditions determine wether diveable or not.

Should anyone wanna explore diving around Pulau Tinggi, Johor or need more info on costs and other stuff, just buzz me and i'll get back to you. Our current website might be slightly heavy tho we are constructing a new one ya. Sms or phone calls are prefered because internet reception on the island is very poor like zaman hang tuah sikit.

Hope to hear from you guys! B-)

Hi gals n guys,

Good to see at least some replies to this topic hahah ;). Well, my numbers still there so feel free. Just wanted to let u know that should anyone wanna check out the outer tokongs of P. Tinggi/Sibu, u might wanna consider staying a little longer. At least 1 full day here to have enough time to do 2 dives around for example Tokong Belalai & Tokong Raket before heading back to dive somewhere near Tinggi.

Oh and a very grand suprise over at Batu Gebang (submerged reef) recently was a 2m tawny nurse shark resting under a small gua. Nope no camera, no pictures and my buddy freaked out aiyaaa. What to do?

Cheerio..
