Dive Centre Recommendation for Long Beach, Perhentian Kecil

Post Number:#1  Postby altair » Mon Jun 23, 2008 11:24 pm

Hello all. I'm altair and I'm new here. Me and a buddy are going to do our OW certification at Long Beach, Perhentian Kecil in about 2 weeks time. Would like to have your feedback regarding which dive centre is the best along the Long Beach stretch.

And also I've heard that the water viz around the Perhentian islands are pretty poor lately, is it true?

Thanx a lot in advance :)

Go to Spice.
Ask for Muski.
Later at night, you must chill out at "Safety Stop." You'll find it surely!

Thanks bro. Do u by any chance have Spice's contact number? So I can call em up and get further info.

Hmm, a friend recently recommended a dive centre at Long Beach called 'Dive Star' (or some derivation thereof)...anyone heard of it?

Tq Zani. Now if I can only get their contact number...anyone has it? Also, how much do they charge for an OW course?

So far I've only managed to contact Spice Divers & Turtle Bay Divers only...tried calling Sunlight Divers at 6012 3071952 but couldn't reach them (a lady picked up saying wrong number). Are they still in operation?

Hello tulip. I just came back from Perhentian yesterday, at the moment still tired and down with the flu as well. Hmmph..

As for my OWC, happy to say I got certified! Woot! And the people at Sunlight Divers were really fun and helpful too. I had some real fun there...even went for an adventure dive, went to the Sugar Wreck...my 1st ever shipwreck dive! What an adrenaline rush!

As for viz, to be honest it wasn't so good, max maybe 6-7 meters, the worst was at Sugar Wreck and Shark Point (man, I hated that place, strong currents!). At Sugar Wreck, it was maybe 2-3 metres max...can't hardly see in front of me. The best dive for me was at Batu Nisan (just off Long Beach) and also D'Lagoon, which was very relaxing. Highlight of the trip was 2 humongous Jenkin's rays and also 2 eff-ing huge batfish!

Will report more soon, also will post up some pics. Have to get some rest 1st.
