Common mistake in scuba diving, have any other ideas?

Here, I'll try to summary what common mistake in scuba diving, If you have any other information please let us know

Technically, scuba diving should be a relaxing and fun sport activity to enjoy the underwater world. However, here are 5 common mistakes in scuba diving to avoid:

1. Go Deeper than the Instructor or Divemaster
This one is what many people do not know about: actually we may not go deeper than the instructor or divemaster unless we’re told so. The reason is simple. They know the dive limit set and dive condition, so they usually position themselves in the limit (e.g. maximum depth) to make sure the rest of the group keep safe out of the trouble.

2.Put the mask on the forehead
Although we have been told about this since the Open Water Dive Course, sometimes we do not realize while doing this common mistakes in scuba diving. Put the mask on neck rather than forehead when on the surface to avoid being beaten by the wave and lost it.

3.Not know how to inflate and deflate properly
These two tiny buttons are important to adjust our buoyancy, and it is totally different how to treat the inflator versus the deflator.

To inflate, we should do this by pressing the button to let the air in very little. Sometimes it is more than enough to do the one or two-short-press. Feel the buoyancy first for half to one minute while diving, than do another two-short-press when it is needed. By doing this, you make sure not to fly to the surface which can be dangerous.

To deflate, it is totally different thing to do to the inflator: we should press the button for quite a long time instead doing the short-press for the inflator, AND raise the inflator hose up till above the head to let the air out of BCD effectively.

Another important rule related to the inflator and deflator is the depth. Why? Remember while we learn about the relationship between the depth and pressure? The deeper the depth, then the pressure increases which resulting to the decrease air volume in the BCD. To keep the buoyancy in the deeper depth, we have to add more air to keep our buoyancy neutral. But what most people forget is to deflate a bit of air when going to the shallower water to avoid, again, fly to the surface.

4.Wrong body position
Many different body position play important roles when we are doing scuba diving. The very initial stage is when we are descending. To be able to descend properly instead of just floating on the surface, keep the feet on the lower position, and heads up. Do not do kicking because this can keep you not going down. Deflate all the air out of your BCD and you will definitely go down slowly if you wear the proper weights.

Next is the streamline body position while diving. While we are very interested in something, we tend to ‘stand’ underwater. If we keep this position while diving, we will not realize that we keep going up. So, remember: your head is the pilot, your fins is your propeller. This is the easiest way to remember to avoid one of these common mistakes in scuba diving

5.Tie the weight belt instead of the gauge
For some weight belt which is made for the bigger men, of course, it is obvious that the belt can be too long for some smaller people. If you are not comfortable with it, just leave it. Do not tie or tangle your weight belt because this can be dangerous when emergency arises and need to release the weight belt. In contrary, do not forget to keep your gauge tied to avoid the breaking to the coral reef when we’re too close to the bottom. This is one of the top common mistakes in scuba diving.

Those are simple but common mistakes in scuba diving to avoid. Hopefully we can pay attention and correct it when we see ourselves, or buddy, or anybody in the same group, do one of this. Remember, safety comes first.

Adding on:

6. Not being able to fully understand the DC being used - interpreting the data or understand the alert given;

7. Wrong selection of dive buddy - unless you always go solo. Wrong dive buddy may resulted in dissatisfaction before and after a dive;

8. Not doing a proper survey on the site you wish to dive - you might end up lost, confuse and not being able to explore the best of what the site has to offer.

I think you've missed one of the most common mistake.....NOT DOING A BUDDY CHECK
....which would spot:

1. Wrong equipment set up
2. Weight belt, clips, etc
3. Air pressure
4. Diver/Buddy comfort and condition before the dive
5. Dive plan

Most of time, during a LOB or holiday trip, people are paired up with whoever is there so the buddy check is a great way to ensure you're both on the same frequency to dive!

PLS DO THIS NO MATTER HOW "EXPERIENCED" YOU ARE.....I've seen and made many mistakes when we've skipped this important step in diving.
