Beach dives in Semanjung Malaysia (non-island)

Post Number:#1  Postby razor75 » Thu Nov 15, 2012 5:17 pm

Salam 1Malaysia,

I was wondering if there any beaches on mainland malaysia that we can do diving with ok marine life? I remember reading a while about a beach dive in Port dickson.

The island dives really kills the mood for us divers who cannot take time off from work to go there.

yep. PD you can do beach dive but ... only if you are really really in need of a salt-water fix. u can try P Sembilan too which launches from Lumut. i assume you are on west coast.

Forget P Dickson..try either P Sembilan or P Payar.  Payar can be accessed via Penang or Langkawi.

dump P9 PP and PD....just go to the pool and master back all the open water skills CESA, open BCD, open weights and so on and if you crave for the saltiness of the sea just bite on the salt cube.
Diving PD better just rent then using your gears. Its horror abusing your gears diving in those muddy waters.

@ ericcc : Tq  for your reply. Do you have some photo's from P Sembilan  dive? I found some dive photo's at PD at the link below;

Any dives which are nonisland based like PD? I would like to swim out from the beach to the dive spot without the use of a boat.

i didnt have a casing when i did P9 and PD. this was earlier in the year.

for PD - dont do the shore dive, do the boat dive if u must. i did the shore dive and it was most adventurous! key word is watch out for the tides... surfacing during low tide is no fun at all!!!

went with bockbong (whose photos of seahorse u see here) and MDG Scuba.  the next dive off PD is this 18th Nov 8am.  search FB for MDG Scuba. darn i got work then or i might go get wet!

dont expect too much in terms of viz and wildlife. the corals might be a surprise ;)  we can only speculate as to the lack of fish, with the aquarium trade the main suspect :(

PD - if we just clean up our rivers and drains, ensure the sewage doesnt directly go into the oceans, and all those environ-friendly measures we can think of (turn Malaysia into a marine park!). we can dream.
