What do you think is the essential safety gear divers should bring down with them at ALL times?

haa raffidi dont always depend on buddy.

I cant live without my DSMB, Spool, Pointer, DC and compass.
I can rent other things but these 4 things dont often rented in any dive center.
one day i shall have a little petite dive knife into my list.

Its amazing how so many divers are willing to splurge on the things that wont keep them safe but are not willing to pay for items directly related to dive safety.  I personally always carry my SMB, whistle, line cutter, signalling mirror and a small pack of ribena (I know its not safety gear but I hate getting dry mouth)..I used to carry a spinner knife but i lost it on a dive and have yet to replace it.

You;d be surprised how popular that packet of ribena gets especially after repetitive dives..once on the surface everyone is asking for a sip of it..haha..here;s a pic of me  drinking it !

Sorry spare air is the brand. I mean the additional miniature tank you bring it in case your air suddenly runs out and your buddy is too far. It gives you may be 57 breaths or so.

Spare air is what your buddy is for. Carrying the cannister is just loading an additional item for yourself to carry. Optional gear maybe, essential? Definitely not.

I would say brains. Some divers leave them at home

But in all seriousness, divers need to evaluate the Equipment, Environment and Knowledge(training) at hand and Adapt their dive plans (including whatever kit to dive with) and contingencies accordingly.
