As the decipline that is going to be attempted is Dynamic and Static, the inwater team wont be using SCUBA.

As per what i discuss with Kimseng, we need the members of the rescue team to be able to go as fast as the freedivers and unrestrain.

We need at least 1 rescue person for Static and 2 for Dynamic.

For dynamic 2 rescue person will escort the freediver during the run and they must be faster or at least the same speed as the freediver. swimming life guards are ideal for this role so anybody out there with life guard and EFR qualification or equivalent is welcome to volunter.

Maybe Jaded can give some suggestion in ways we may improve the above system.

looking good. 2-3 week of Nov eh? keep updating.

wow i appreciate being asked for suggestions! So far, what i saw, is that the inwater rescue diver will have fins, mask, snorkels and that swimming board thingie i cant remember the name let me google. oh, its called a 'kickboard'. and then the rescue diver will swim by the participant's side, or a little bit behind. meaning the rescue diver's head is aligned with the freediver's shoulders or waist. or even behind behind like the head is the level of the fins. but not too close lah, until the rescue diver interferes with the swimmer's performance.

and then when the competitor is struggling, the rescue diver will swoop in and help him/her resurface.

and then a couple of ppl on land will help. depending on how out-of-it the freediver is, either just by making sure his head is out of water, or scooping him out and lying him down. and then they'd give him a little bit of time to recuperate.

erm... i reckon anybody can save anybody. but if i'm not mistaken, in AIDA you'd actually have to go thru a safety diver course to be eligible for that position. i dont know.

hey why not contact those people in pulau perhentian to find out if they're interested in being officials?

yup, in AIDA there is a a specialty that you can take called Competition Safety Freediver. Divers who are 2 Star and above can take this specialty.
