Do I need a D9?

Do I need a D9?

Post Number:#1  Postby ScorpionKing » Tue Jul 10, 2007 10:30 am

I know I want a D9 or D6, its just too cool, but the question is do I need it? Can I get by using a Suunto Mosquito? I am after all just a newbie and I personally know lots of DM that are using the Mosquito or even the Vyper. Furthermore I'm on a budget. So, opinions please, would you personally save up for a D9/D6 or would you just get a Mosquito/ Vyper or any of the basic dive computers that has the necessary funtions, without the extras.
While we are here, does anyone out there know of a programme that would allow a Suunto dive comp to sync with my Apple? Thanks

Ask yourself several questions first like wht kind of dives do you do, do you dive with a dive guide or without that you need a compass to show your heading, what kind of information do you actually need when you dive and can those vital information be given by other dive computers that are cheaper and equally reliable, and use the extra money saved to do more dives or buy food to eat.

actually bro, the mozzie functions just as well as the D9 &D6.
albeit more basic ler - it doesnt have a digital compass, nor does it have that transmitter thingy that will shoot ur (tank) air information to ur PDC.

nonetheless, its a cool PDC to have decorating your wrist. Beats the other 'bling blings'  ;D ;D ;D

It all actually depends on what u want .......

If u need something to just plan ur dive and save some more money to go diving, a dive table and a timer will do  ;)

Why dont you go to the www.suunto.com and compare the functionality of these three that u have choose and decides what actually u want the computer to be telling you.
if u are going to be dumb, u better be tough ....

If u really wanna invest in a dive comp. For a start, get which shows ur Non Decompression Time (most important) others includes the normal gizzmos like ascend rate, no flying time, depth and etc. U can opt for mosquito or if more budget get the stinger. No need to get those bling bling dive comps like D6 or D9 unless budget is not an issue. Like all of them higlighted, save money to do more dives.

I would strongly suggest that before u decide to get yourself a dive comp, familiarise yourself with the dive table and understand the concept ... then u will know what the computer is doing and what it is calculating and it is trying to tell u ... and dont just let it be a glorified bottom timer.

Tuan SD.. Prices are referred as published on internet from local dive outlets and talk-talk during the recent MIDE.

Mosquito - +- RM1200
Geo - 950rm
Promaster JP3040-59E - RM900

I prefer something that doubles as normal wrist watch.

Ermmm... maybe can get good, down-to-earth discount if Tuan SD buy for me...haha..
