Bro..what is the type of diving you be doing?

Do tell us more about it & from there we can give you advice.

IMO...in general, test dive the equipment first b4 buying it & compare with other type of BCs & Regs.

hawkuen, there are many diving products on the market in Malaysia and especially in KL so go around and do a bit of research to find something that you like and is practical and fits your budget. There are a few dive shop owners in this forum and I am sure that none of them (or us) will rip you off. Better still, if you have the opportunity, try on a few different brands/models to give you an idea on what to look out for. Hope this helps.

u're rite Mr Batzer,there's alot of diving product in Malaysia. No hurry Hawkuen,try find something more comfortable and fits for u. Lotsss of choice,take ur time to browse around to find. If ur pocket not permit it,just save little bit more.no pointed,to get cheap but not comfoprtable for u.In scuba diving u need to be in comfort manner in order to enjoy ur dive (only recreational diver). Like Mr Syed Khairul said, try the product is one the option to find something good for u.

my 5 cent opinion  ;)

Hello Bro :hello:

The best thing to do is come to one of the pool sessions.. The sifus and sifuettes will be there as well..

Try some of the stuff then make up your mind.. And if you are in no hurry, wait for MIDE 08.. most of the dive shop people will be there.. U can scout around again b4 deciding..

IST is prettyy good stuff and value for money.. But so are some of the other brands.. U can mix and match as well.. If you are using "M" size bc, u can borrow mine for a tryout.. just PM or call me at 012.234.0640..

my dua sen worth..

Cheers!!!!!
there's heaven.. and there is diving..

Hi Hawkuen,

IST is real value for money.

The BCD it built from 1000 Codura material and it can last very very long.

The Regulator is brand new, with very good performance and value for money.

Please feel free to contact us for any further details.

Bro..what does 1000 Codura means & what is the relation of 1000 codura with it can last very long?

As for the reguator..What is the performance difference compare to Apeks TX50 which is very2 old model?

Thanks in advance bro.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cordura

Cordura was the registered name of a certified rayon fabric from DuPont [1] . Today, it is the registered name of a high-performance Nylon6,6 product manufactured by Invista, a wholly-owned division of Koch Industries, Inc. It is used in a wide range of products from luggage and backpacks to boots, military apparel (such as tactical blade sheaths, ammunition pouches, etc.), and performance apparel.

It is designed to be long lasting and resistant to abrasions, tears and scuffs.

As a brand name, Cordura reaches back to 1929 as a development of Rayon. The product was further developed during the Second World War and used by the military in tires. From 1966 when new formulations of nylon proved superior, the Cordura brand was transferred to the nylon product instead.

Cordura has continued to be developed as a brand by Invista with new products applied to an increasing range of items such as:

    * luggage
    * motorcycle clothing
    * anywhere that abrasion resistance is important
    * sporting and recreational equipment such as paintball gear

Thanks bro but my question left un-answered  :laughing11:

90% of BC are made with cordura material .... so lets go back to my question on it.

Most dive operator using cheap & cheerful 400/600 Cordura ... used & abused for many years without any problem.

Thanks.

1000 cordura means it is much finer and softer than 400/600 cordura. The smaller the number, the finer the material is. Not the answer to your question, but obviously just to explain the difference between 1000 and 400/600 cordura. More expensive materials were used to make BCD too, the latest being 2550 Cordura, similar to what Samsonite used to make their bags.

What's so great about IST using 1000 cordura compared to US or Italian brands using 400/600 cordura, is that IST is much cheaper even when using more expensive material. Quality-wise and technical-wise, not too sure...
