Apeks XTX 50 vs. Aqualung Legend LX ACD

Post Number:#1  Postby Peter Griffin » Sun Apr 27, 2008 12:40 am

Hey guys...

As the title reads, I'm having difficulties on deciding between the two. My brother owns the Apeks XTX 50, tried it, really nice indeed, low WOB, minimal bubble interference and just about anything a diver would want/expect. I heard that the Legend is constructed based on Apeks, haven't got the chance to try it yet though. The ACD system is a nice complement as well. Would really like to get some feedbacks from all of u here who owns any of these models as I am on the verge of purchasing a new set of regs, but still can't convince myself that one is better than the other.
cheers!!

I would go with the cheaper unit to service yearly...so which is cheaper & better back-up sales service?

Try & find Apeks TX50..the WOB is as good as the newer set.

:D

Work Of Breath(WOB)...effort of breathing using the regulator.

Da'a: i dont know how much both regs cost in malaysia, but my local DS supplies both around 450-500(usd)..with the aqualung costs a bit more than apeks.

Syed K. A.: I assume the aqualung will cost more for the yearly service, since it has more working parts..the ACD system to be exact. both come with lifetime free replacement parts program..so sorta slit in the middle

Thanks for the feedback..

Servicing of both can be done right here in Scuba Dynamics and the cost of the service kit for the Apeks is slightly higher than the Legend - both excellent set up's for reliability and robustness but as per all regulator sets, needs some of your personal attention to prevent a "pre mature death" of the such..

Hope this helps.

This will depend on the condition of your reg. The normal service charge is purely for labour and if necessary, parts replacements, charged separately of course. Service will consist of a thorough sonic cleaning process, callibration and re tuning of the 1st & 2nd stages & AAS.

It is recommended that you service your regs every 75 dives IF you dive them hard but otherwise an annual service will do and if you look after your stuff properly, you may be able to get away with a sevice only after 1.5 or 2 years with the Apeks, like the Atomic series.

I must stress again that YOU are the most important factor in how long your set will last and perform.
