Cool air Regulators..

Post Number:#1  Postby blackbear » Fri Oct 19, 2007 2:09 pm

Hey all!!!

Just curious... There are a couple of brands out there who say their regs
keeps your mouth cool and comfortable all-dive long.. Then i have been to dive shops
where they sell these piece of cloth or something to ensure u breath cool air..

Here's what i dont understand.. We are taught that we breath DRY COMPRESSED AIR
from out tanks rite? Wouldn't putting a cloth or sponge or cotton cause algae build up
around the area where its placed? And wouldn't it spread into the hoses and such thus
contaminating the air?

I know its a stupid question, the manufacturers would have thought of that and all,
but am just curious..

Cheers!!!
there's heaven.. and there is diving..

Them sponges/cloth/filters have been said to moisturise the dry compressed air we breathe, so our throats wont feel that abused and dry from all the 'kreeeeeek kroooook'-ing we do underwater.

And i doubt that them cloths/sponges/filters will encourage algae to grow...as long as they are regularly rinsed and dried after every dive trip ler.

:)

Having said that, what (little) i wrote above is only from one person's understanding (or lack of) and opinion : me.

Instructors, Divemasters, Manufacturers and dealers, do set things straight if i stand corrected.

If you are still confused by what (little) i wrote, pop in hacks only ler, bro.
It's just as cooling and cost only 50sen a trip. :)
