Post Number:#1  Postby edjb » Tue Sep 28, 2010 10:59 am

Good morning guys,

I am new to diving and I have some question that need enlightment!! :D.Hope all the bro & sis here can help.

I have read from previous post that the FF Pro is good and popular. Just wanna ask if you guys are still using it. If yes, what are the pro and cons of FF Pro. As for the aqualung slingshot, have anyone try it ?

Here are some of the things I've noticed about both.

FF: Have to kick with small cycle flutter, like swimming freestlye. Not so efficient with the frog kick. Very easy to walk on land and easy to keep in bag.

Slingshot: Just like normal fin, but the hardness of the fin can be adjusted just with fingers at the rubber tensioner.

Both fins are good, and fast. FF have more vibrant colours. Hope helps.

Hi Irukanji, :hello:

Thanks for the info. May I know what fin you are using? I have not tried both of the fins and still very undecided.

It's best if you could try it first, try to join more dive trips. Then borrow from fellow divers. Members here are very friendly.  :D

I'm using Good Ol' Scubapro Jet Fin.... with lots of fungus on it.  ;)

SLINGSHOT ROCKZ!

The best fins i've ever used!
I had the Gull Super Mew, Gull Mew, Gull Mew Safe, Mares Avanti Quattro, Technisub Stratos.....i've got rid of all these fins and the SlingShot is my one & only fins i'll be using for a really long time!

It's AWESOME! :)

I think it is hard to compare the two because they are so different. Found these videos very entertaining and very thought provoking at the same time.
One has an open foot pocket with a curved blade

and the other has a closed foot pocket and a flat blade.

sememang nyer.... FF is at its own league..... even the price... got the opportunity to use it (Excellerating Tan Delta).... mmg best .... the friction pun kurang.... against current pun syok...... but the price he bought at Sing.... nearly RM 2k....hehehehe...

but got also the chance from him to try Seawing ..... not bad and a good challenger to FF.....

Never tried Aqualung Slingshot because is new

Been using other type of fins in the market n ended up with Force Fin Pro with bungee.

Some reading base on research done by US Navy programme below;
http://www.forcefin.com/rd_navy.html

I dont use Split-Fin....see below;
http://www.ndc.noaa.gov/newsltr/ts_07march.pdf

"7. Prohibit the use of split fins for diving when heavy loads or high currents may be encountered or
when wearing a drysuit."

All the best with ur selection.

:D
