Cyclops, Ketam and ketamnette use contact lens when diving... We use the daily disposable when traveling so no need to bring solution. There is concerns about using contact during diving. When you lose your mask underwater opening your eyes may cause your contact lens to float out ( same happens when mask is flooded). Happened to ketamnette once, she surfaced took off her mask and her contact were sitting nicely on her cheeks. So bring spare pair on boat.

There is also concern that the contact may cause infection when it scratched your eye and exposed to sea water. But read somewhere (asian diver or sport diving magazine) that this is minimal when using disposables as they are fresh and sterile out of the packaging.

Other options is to get Lasik. Ketam is contemplating.

Horror?

What's the horror bro? There are proponents for both sides. Ketam have been swimming long time with contacts (with goggles of course) so found it not problematic as compared to others who uses prescription lens. So the choice is yours. Ketam just find it easier with contacts cause on surface can remove mask and still find boat hehehe  :glasses9:

When I started diving, I use monthly disposable lenses. Now, I just use daily. Ketam has listed down the pro and cons.

I use presciption lenses for my mask. Never used contacts, so not comfortable with them.

And when I surface, I make sure I know where the boat is and I only remove my mask on the boat.  :D

I use the monthly contact lense when I go diving and during surface interval. So far so good.

cheers

You can try it on during snorkeling first....then, if comfortable..try during diving...should be no problem...
