Woowww........... so many types of fins available in the market and each "boasts" their advantages..... am just wondering,  is there such fins which is suitable for ladies?  I mean something which is not too bulky nor heavy but able to deliver good efficiency when finning?   I did experienced leg muscle cramp while using DC's fins during my OWD course.

While shopping around for fins,  one of the dive shop recommended Gull Mantis Fins,  anyone used that before?  It seems that this brand was rarely mentioned and not popular in this forum compared to FF, Mares and Subapro Jetfins..... does that mean that it's not as good as others?  Seeking all sifu's comments and advise.

erm, if the brand was rarely mentioned or not "popular" here in MUW, it does not mean that its not good..whichever it is, its up to the individual to determine whether the fin is good or not..if possible, try out the different kinds of fins available first b4 getting ur own..

gull..u can get them with rainbow runner..www.rainbowrunner.net

Anyone have Gull fins that I can test on...??   ;D ;D ;D

usually you can't really go fast with frog kicks. well put it short to be the fastest you need to do the flutter kick.
but you like frog kick so i'd recommend you to get non split fins. Get those are made of rubber eg scubapor jet fin, OMS Slipstream Fins.
Alternatively you could settle for hard plastic compound like the tusa platina.

if you have strong thigh/calf muscle & you want power against current you should use hard/stiff fins. i recommend Cressi Rondine http://www.cressi.it/easyStore/SchedeVedi.asp?ProdottiID=51 or Reaction http://www.cressi.it/easyStore/SchedeVedi.asp?ProdottiID=331.

split fins are designed for ease of finning, less likely to get cramps. but if you have to go against current i think the hard non-split fins would be better especially with strong frog kicks.

another factor is weight on land, rubber fins tend to be heavier, you don't want to pay the airline more than you have to when flying.

i am using the beuchat powerjet firm flex but cannot provide you a proper eval on it. i was previously using the cressi masterfrog which is bigger and stiffer. The cressi one is more powerful for me. if you are on 1 of the SIP trips then maybe i can loan the powerjet to you to try.

cheers...

mart1njo3, you still got your master frog? i had mine for 300+ dives, powerful in the face of adversity (current la), until someone stole it at perhentian. now using the new reaction, not as long nor as stiff but good enough replacement.

yes, i still have it. its just that one of the fin looks like its gonna break. you know how plastic changes to white when you bend it ? just don't want it splitting in 2 and ruining my dive or trip.

cheers...
