if technical means one has to have deep dive license for that.
Normal OW at depth 30m one could only have at least 15min deep dives before deco.

The first dive I did in Weh is Seulako Island (small island). I remembered the current quite strong for me because that is the 1st time i dive in a strong current. Quite panic for a while but manage to overcome it. As a newbie im quite struggling, and I learnt something new. Not all site have a strong current and yes it unpredictable.

I stay at steffen scuba school (sss), the omellate also that big. Haha.

SECOND DAY - 12 MARCH 2012 - continuation

For those who had read Decimal's review, he did mentioned something about 'tea-time a makcik comes round to sell hot snacks like doughnuts, pisang goreng, and the ball with sesame seed outside'. Well guys, that's Mama Donat'.. hehe not yet a makcik.. hehe.. The Donut, pisang goreng, and the kueh sayur she made really add more permanent weight on u man. Sure does taste good after a cold tiring awesome dive. Yummy munchy.. she came with a full basket and left nearly empty during our stay there. Worry not, Mama Donat will be there to share her donat with u each time u visit Lumba Lumba.. hehe.

We ended our second day with a generous dinner again at Dang Dang Na. The owner made ikan bakar for us, GT, Red Snapper and the other one i'm not really that sure. That comes along with few other dishes. Yummy.. Just that one thing. No real KUAH!! All nearly dry kind of dishes. Being Malaysian (ot maybe it is just me), how can eat nasi without KUAH??? The Kedah people call it 'MENGKELAN'. Wahtever it is, we whallop till empty.. hehe..

TBC...

Wish I can follow.. Still have this unfinished business with Pulau Weh. Maybe we can plan for a trip together in the near future. We are hoping to try Koh Lipe probably in Nov.

As for the report, just belasah what cross ur mind.. Hehe
I think a report is very important. Act as a reference for those who are planning for a trip. For those who are reading this posting, do put a report of ur trip as most of us would love to hear from u!

Fellas.. this should be the final chapter of the report:

THIRD DAY - 13 MARCH 2012
The Diving
Start off fresh. Again with breakfast at 7.30am. Suit up and on the boat at 9.00am. Technically, we had four dives on the final day:

FOURTH DIVE - Canyon - 0950H
Depth - 23.5m
Time - 36 mins
Temp - 27
Viz - 20m - Great
in the earlier posting, i did said something about viewing big waves onto the wall not too far from KM NOL. Damn, it was the Canyon. Seeing mild current of the surface. Gear up and into the water we go. Didnt wait long before we decent as it is kindda choppy. Viz is damn good down there. Lots and lots of gorganion sea fans and just soon after we learn what the canyon is all about. Nope, we see no pelagic. I was told if the water is a lot cooler, we might get a chance for manta. Just after 10 minutes, we started to feel the current. Kick and kick, there's a no go. Current getting stronger and we follow the drift before settling low. While drifting, we saw a honeycomb swimming gracefully alongside with us before disappering. I was low on weight and did what i would call a nearly fail safety stop. Canyon is a beautiful site. Go there to appreciate it.

FIFTH & SIXTH DIVE - SABANG WRECK & HOT SPRING - 1320H
Depth - 13.3m & 11.1m
Time - 38 mins & 22M
Temp - 28
Viz - <10 & 15m
Sabang Wreck is a tugboat near sabang jetty. Sandy bottom. Viz can be so teruk especially if one fella started to stir the sand. Somehow i feel the sea water is much saltier here. Water quality i no good. I'm not quite fond of this site. but the Hot Spring is not bad. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the smell of sulphur. It is kindda cool. My advise, do not bring any silver item to this site. The chemichal reaction can turn silver items into black colour.

SEVENTH DIVE - LUMBA LUMBA HOUSEREEF - 1741H
Depth - 16.1m
Time - 59 mins
Temp - 27
Viz -15m
We decided to go left since yesterday we explored the right side. Leafy and bearded scorpionfish, ikan sebelah and plenty other more. Not so much coral except for staghorn and few soft corals. But the many underwater creatures can be seen. For the first time i bumped onto a fu manchu lionfish.. sorry guys, the pics is pretty blurry but just wanna show u the fu manchu. Searching for the flying gurnards again but no where to be found.

After the long satisfying dive, time to pack and dry off the gears. Settle the payment and stuff. Incredible seven dives with Lumba Lumba and i like it. Next day, we are moved out at 6.30am, hoping to come again.. hehe

Malxn, yep.. Finally we made it! It was a good trip. Maybe because we came in numbers so they took care of us.. Hehe

Mamakpenang, when can we do a revisit?

Decimal bro, yeah, it was ok. There down side here and there and of course they can be better. The boat is without roof, so bit hot especially if u r on it at noon. The room can be better with aircond (personal preference), and only if they can provide much comfy pillow and selimut (I just belasah since too tired already).

narco,
pulau weh revisit....haha....maybe next year B-)

for me the diving trip was good, at least both of the owners of lumbalumba did have a little chit chat with us, not shy away, the rest of the people there also nice & friendly, they did give us warm welcome with a glass of orange juice....
the best part unlike diving in pulau redang or pulau perhentian, we only need to setup our gears at the dive shop & the DM and Boatman carry the tank & BCD to the boat for 1st dive and exchange the tank for us for the 2nd dive, u don't have to carry your tank & BCD all the way from DC to the boat, and from the boat to the DC once the dive end, they even take care of your gears, cleaning it and hang it to dry, much relaxing for female divers, alas for shore dive we still have to carry the tank & BCD hehe.... :D

The other thing about Pulau Weh is (that we have no chance to really explore) the way of living of the people. What they do on daily basis? What other attractions in Pulau Weh (other than diving)? And of course what other DC have to offer. At first i thought the volume would be low, but I was kindda struck by the amount of people travelling back and forth between from the mainland to the island. During both of our journey, it was full board all along.

Mamakpenang, next year it is.. hehe

Fellas, just to post up some additional pics during the dive. Those i didnt put during the supposedly final report of Pulau Weh. Somehow during the last day diving we all unite to bring the fiber glass boat of Lumba Lumba back to the sea. It has been under the dock for almost a month it seems (or more). More than 30 people be it the locals and the foreigns unite to bring it back to the water. The spirit was awesome! Enjoy!

Don't bring silver items as it has high possibility to turn black.

Be prepared with shampoo and sabun.

Was you gears troughly after visiting the sulphur site.

run,
one more thing to add before i forget....
lumbalumba dm take fixed daily salary for 2 boat dives a day, and maybe a house reef included, overtime? yes but paid in term of free lunch no money involved. so if u are asking 3 boat dives a day that will be extra work for them, but no commission, only dive centre make money hehe... B-)
unlike redang, perhentian & sipadan dm which income based on commission on how many divers & how many dives per day......
narco,
correct me if i am wrong..... :D
