Raja Ampat Report from Toodus

Post Number:#1  Postby toodus » Mon Nov 04, 2013 12:34 pm

Just came back from Raja Ampat two weeks ago and it was AWESOME !!!The entire cost of this R4 LOB was RM8000
which I began paying RM1000 since January 2013.
Raja Ampat is amazing underwater. With untouched corals and a healthy marine life, far far away from civilization,
the diving in this part of the world can bring your soul back to basics. Jacques Costeau obviously never dived here.

Anyway, I recently upgraded my camera to a g15 and I have to learn all the stuff like aperture, shutter speed, ISO,etc.
You can learn all the aperture, shutter speed, etc all you want, have all the macro lenses, strobes
but it is truly something you are born with or without.
Innate or not.

Just so you guys know, I have no macro lens, no strobes, no PS/LR...

Sit back, relax and enjoy the photos from the bulletproof tiger of underwater compact camera photography.

This shot is so good I nearly came in my shorts when I viewed it on land. Award winning shot.

One word : BERSEPAH. I was able to find 15 bargibantis in one seafan alone. And the seafan was only at 8 metres. How insane
is that !!!!!

Silently, Toodus went to R4. Good shot on the pgymies. Bro, for the half-half shot, you can do better if u use a wide angle dome. You can shoot an award winning scenic shot with that.. hehe

But again, it is not so much of the camera, it is always the dive-photographer.. hehe

Narco, I strobe pun tak ada nak suruh buat wide angle. Buying macro lens pun think 8 times. God willing , in a few years I will do wide angle. What the hell is wide angle?

decimal86, I went with MV Pearl of Papua. No I dont have 3 hands. I'm just THAT good....

Hi Toodus, good pictures, nice work.

I hv never been to R4 and may be planning a trip soon....need to ask on the cost of the trip if you dont mind.
You paid RM8k for the trip, does it include the airfare from KL all the way to Sorong?
Secondly, did you go through a local agent here in Malaysia? Coz the internet rate on the MV Pearl of Papua are all in Euro and based on current forex rate it will equate up to something like RM12k.....

Thanks

kayancdh,

I paid RM8000 which includes flight from makassar to sorong and back. And everything else...the diving, the boat, the tips, the hotel in Makassar on the first day and last night...dinner in Makassar... the whole works....the taxis from airport to hotel and back....

The only thing out of the Rm8000 are my flights from KL to makassar and back....so that's excluded from rm8000.

Yeah, I went through an agent here in KL. This agent is setting up another dive trip in 2014 for Raja Ampat already.

Email me at yateoh@gmail.com if you want more information....

Hi toodus,

Wow the wobbegong shark fitted nicely inside the 'bowl', which dive site did you take that?

Which boat did you take during your stay at R4? I too just came back from R4 last week, was with the Black Manta.

It was our check out dive...a night dive ..... Actully, the wobeggong was a juvenile ...and the DM said it''s hard to ever find a juvenile. Dive site is at some jetty after 4 hours boat ride from Sorong.

MV Pearl Of Papua...where are your photos????
