Dive Report : Celebes Beach Resort (Final Dive For the Year 2011 -30/11-4/12)

Post Number:#1  Postby toodus » Tue Dec 06, 2011 1:27 pm

It's December 2011 and I decided to have my final dive session before the year ends.  A pretty good year for diving I would say. Saw loads of new marine life and getting really excited over nudibranches along the way and learning uw photography as well at the basic level. I'm still struggling with my uw white balance and would love some feedback. I dived locally the entire year as I  would like to check out the local dive scene before venturing overseas....and I have to say, we have some pretty amazing local dive scene, don't you agree? Perhentian, Sipadan, Mabul, Tioman, etc.

Anyway, back to the dive report. Again, I returned to my favourite dive spot - Celebes Beach Resort (www.celebescuba.com) on Pom Pom Island. The operative words for this resort are "privacy" and "tranquility". Plus the shore and night dives are free.
Being an avid diver like me, these are definitely plus points.  The night dive here is awesome because I saw my first coral cat shark two nights in a row. There's a video of a decorator crab during my night dive that is absolutely hilarious. Night dives are just fun kan? During my stay, it was just the 6 of us. All in all, I made 18 dives in my 5D 4N. Also, my Suunto D4i performed really well. I took the tip from our forumer "run" and activate DIVE AIR everytime before my dive. So thank you "run". I learnt how to view the dive pattern, the dive plan, etc from the dive comp and it truly is an important apparatus.  By the way, I celebrated with my 150th dive there...naked!

As for security, I found out that Pandanan Island which is located right behind Pom Pom island has our Malaysian army naval base camp. Before diving their jetty, I met up with the soldiers, shooked hands and thanked them for keeping an eye
on our Malaysian waters.

So far, this is my 3rd visit and will plan for more in 2012. Without any further adieu, here are the pictures and videos :

Teoh, great pics la. You should be thinking of upgrading your camera gear or at least with two strobes.

Anyway, an easy way to get around the white balance is to shoot in raw mode. Then during PP, you could choose whatever balance  you want
