Lara, I'm not a tekkie like Holemaster. He breathes nitrox while diving as his main gas. I use air only until I do my stops. So he's the more qualified guy than I am.

wondering what the use of long hose b4, seems like a cool way of diving when jembalang laut (seademon) use it. but katak pink clear the air for me, ooo baru tau (ooo now i know).

Anyway, i'm a certified (sought of) Nitrox diver but never did any nitrox diving and slowly what the instructor ajar (taught) cleared from my mind.

Can any otai (oldman) arrange any fun nitrox diving once a while. How much a per tank for a 36% mix here in KL..??? and where to get it..??

1. 'Intro To Technical Diving Workshop' and 'Recreational Nitrox' what are the difference between either one?

2. And as for what I've heard is that by having to use the long hose configuration we would be more 'streamlined' (i.e. designed or arranged to offer the least resistant to fluid flow) while diving and doing swim thru. Any comment?

I never did Intro to Tech Diving Workshop..I can see a lot of workshops when I drive through Cheras already. As your number of dives is limited still, it is best you do recreational Nitrox for you to have a basic understanding of what cocktail gas can do to you (good and/or bad). There are things in recreational Nitrox that you can apply, and one thing that you will apply in all kinds of cocktail gas diving, including Trimix, Heliox, Helitrox etc.

Longhoses don't do much except it allows you to remove your BCD to penetrate deeper into more confined spaces; and pretty cool for your buddy's use when he needs air at 24m. Ask Seasir. ;D ;D

Streamline? I don't know and don't think so...I'd think it's easier to get you entangled with something if you don't "tidy up" your configuration..long hose or short hose. All the same.

It's the training that makes the difference.

Something like that lor. One DM told me it's probably because I have bad air consumption. ;D ::) :P

On the serious side, it makes it easier for the diver to remove his BCD and equipment to enter tight spaces, then pull the BCD and tanks through. It is also more comfortable when you are diving with 4 tanks, and your buddy, who also has 4 tanks, run out of air. Imagine using the normal octopus for buddy breathing when you have like 11 stops to do to decompress.

recommended to use a 1.5 mtr ( 5ft hose) hose when using a single tank as opposed to a 2 mtr( 7ft hose) but you can tuck the long hoses under the canister if you using one .Look more streamline and clean configuration. In consideration  (primary on long hose ) and backup reg  around your neck with bunggie cord. If your buddy Out of air you donate the long hose to him and you breath from your backup reg.

Safe diving

Hahah.. for sure someone will buddy with you 8-). the reason why you donate the long hoses reg because you  know the reg that you breath it's working and will save your buddy life. that why most tech diver have same a identical both reg for double or single setup. cheap and easy to maintain.

Safe diving.

if you don't have canister light not a big deal. just make a nice loop around your body.

you can attach bungee cord similiar like this or just make one..cheap only 2 minute work. make sure you get a right length.

Oh.. i have one silly experience to share on this one.  talk about tech diving :-[ (malu)

i did use the bungee cord as in the picture, tied exactly like that.
then one time, after ascending, and took off my bc, handed it over to boat man.

i was still in the water.
didnt remember that the reg was still hanging onto my neck. boat man pulled up the equipment.

bungee stretched.
then bungee snapped on my lip...

                ADOIIIIIIIIIII!!!!  (ouch)

since then, i never bother to tie it again... hahaha

(had to eat onions to deter myself from kissing...) :-*
