Snafu : Your DIY Twin setup explanation/instructions is simple to follow. Great job on the clear pics.(No offence to Hollowman & deepblu but you might want to use female models next time ;)) But some details are left out.

For example in Part 3 : The steel bands should be located 11" apart(measured from stud to stud)

And as a general guide, the location of the top band should be somewhere near the shoulder of the tanks.(The bands can be shifted as desired to get the trim level preffered by the individual diver)

Great thread..........looking forward forward to the next DIY thread.........   :D

Actually, snafu told me that i was to adjust the bands to my BP configurations upon reaching home. The steel bands were just screwed together to hold the tanks in place - for the transportation to its new "home"  :), as the manifold was made of brass and could easily be damaged should the tanks get knocked about in the boot of my car.

This was further affirmed by the manager (whose dive shop i went to fill the air the following day) that different BPs are "cut" differently. Thus what fits a Halcyon BP will not quite fit an Oxycheq or a Dive Rite or an Apex or the one sold by scubatex here.

Having said that, am still new to the twin set up thingy...so i could be totally out of whack with my answer.

(or worse still, kena whack by snafu!!  ;D ;D ;D)

Deepblu... thanks for the answer, you are 100% correct.

Sicko....there you go bro, Deepblu given the reason why we did not adjust the twin cylinder band yet.

Thanks for the additional information.

Haha...........you are right bro. Most backplates stud holes are spaced 11" apart.

It would be interesting to see you in a bikini though.............. ;D maybe in part 4??

Hmm..I have yet to convert my tanks into a twinset. Hydrostatic test done last week. I guess I'll keep a twinset for fun even after getting my new 2nd hand toy ::)

Here's a tip for the DIY guys: A simple check to test whether you have assembled & aligned the tanks correctly is to lay the twinset on a level floor and try to "rock" them. No movement means job well done!

A job weldone guys.

On the training matters, I would really recommending for u guys to attend the course first then do ur own training rather than the other way around.  You should get a proper lessons in the course through a certified instructor.  There are few tech instructors around, so please do contact them for the course.  You shouldn't settle for less nor cutting cornes especially doing the tech diving.

Which is precisely why the twins are still standing, unrockable, on the floor in the store room bro.

Money and time willing, will be bringing them down end September early October.  :)
