Raja Ampat Liveaboard February 2010

Post Number:#1  Postby syed » Mon Dec 14, 2009 3:15 pm

We are looking for buddies to join us on a Raja Ampat liveaboard from 19 to 28 February 2010 (the week after Chinese New Year). This is a cheapo no frills trip, but by all means on a comfortable liveaboard, in twin sharing air conditioned cabins, with a minimum of 20 dives (most probably more), and is budgeted to cost no more than RM3,XXX per person ex-Sorong (all inclusive, save for equipment rental if required). We have room for only another 4 divers (first come, first served), preferably experienced divers with at least 30 dives each. If you are interested or need more details, please PM or contact me @ 016 6228737/012 2649078 or Chong @ 016 6628618.

If u dont mind bro which LOB is this? Frankly speaking 30 logged dives diver is not sufficient for Raja Ampat. I would think at least 100 logged dives. Even some who claimed >100+ dives also struggled. As u know, the dive sites are all challenging with treacherous currents and all. Please choose your divers wisely. Cheers. Just my 2 cents advise B-)

Thanks for your thoughts, HM. I may not have nailed down the exact number of dives required, but bottom line, we are looking for experienced divers. You can PM/call me for boat details etc. Cheers.

BF,

If you are experienced enough and are comfortable underwater, I would think it should be fine. Just like when we did Komodo last October, the currents may be a bit intimidating at times, but nothing too extraordinary. So, why not join us for Raja Ampat. I am quite certain it will be worth it. Besides, at the  price the organiser is offering, it would be a sin not to go (I don't like to use the word cheap, but it actually is). If you are interested (and maybe your dive buddies too), better let us know quick as there are only limited space left.

Great. For those still interested, there is still space (as of now). Raja Ampat at the price the organiser is offering  is possibly the best deal there is right now. However, response has been good so do hurry to confirm your participation. Please call or PM me. Cheers.

BF, No lah, the rate being charged barely covers the liveaboard rental and other related costs (marine park fee, lodging & transport etc). In fact, the "help" is being offered by an agent recommended by the boat owner. By all means, participants can arrange flight on their own if they so choose. So BF, can we confirm your participation? There are only 2 more spaces left (response have been encouraging). The sooner the flight is booked, the cheaper the entire trip will cost.

BF, No intention to rub your nose in it or anything but it was a shame you couldn't join. We had a blast during the trip. Weather and sea conditions were excellent, the diving was out of this world (almost literally), the boat was comfortable with good food to boost and friendly crew, and we had good fun company on board. Since all good things eventually came to an end,  we are planning a return trip either late this year or early 2011, so be on the lookout.
