Diving Nusa Penida

If you come to Bali, Nusa Penida is a-must-place to visit in Bali. Located at Southeast Bali, there are two other little islands: Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, which are connected by a bridge. The three islands are separated from Bali by Badung Strait. They are quite far away from the hassle and hectic pace of the South Bali, without hawkers or traffic but the magnificent scenery. Moreover, diving Nusa Penida is something every divers should try.

You can reach Nusa Penida by the fast boat for 45 minutes from Sanur or just a few minutes from Nusa Lembongan. Nusa Lembongan itself can be reached by fast boat for 35 minutes from Sanur. You can stay overnight here because this island has many things to explore and places to stay with quite good facilities.

Diving Nusa Penida is very popular among the divers, particularly around May till August. This place is one of the places for ‘Mola-mola’ or ‘Sunfish’ to show up and clean itself near the island, so that can be easily reached by the divers to see them. It has also very great corals and pelagic fishes like Sunfish, giant manta rays, shark, tuna, and mackerel.

Diving Nusa Penida offers many dive site: Crystal Bay, Manta Point, Blue Corner, Mangrove, SD point, PED, Toyapakeh, Batu Abah, etc. Almost all the dive sites here have so strong current that sometimes can be unpredictable. You have to plan your dive according to the dive table and refer to the tide chart. Don’t dispute with your divemaster because they know about this place better than you. However, due to this strong current, some dive centers in Bali require some minimum log dives for divers to dive there.

One more challenging dive site there is Bat Cave. Yes you right! We can do cave dive here. The enter point to the cave is from underwater and inside the cave, there is a small opening to the sky. Bats sleep on the wall of the cave. When you see this, all you can say is “WOW!” :p

The temperatures can go below than 25°C to 17°C around August to November. The cold water comes from the north of Nusa Penida which is deep water. However, this cold water makes the visibility become very good and clear. Preparing for 5 mm wetsuit, hood, and gloves will be our recommendation to make your diving more comfort there.

Diving Nusa Penida is fun yet adventurous thing to do during your dive in Bali. You can also have some fun time with staying in Nusa Lembongan by renting motorcycle to go around. Feel the sound of nature, sound of the wind in the jungle, and the wave on the beach. That will be one of your amazing trip
