Good news! Last month the malaysian maritime sunk 3 Vietnamese / Thai made Fishing vessel which was apprehended last year. I manage to get the location & tommorow Im heading there with my DMs for a recce dive its about 2 km from the island.The spot is about 22-25m & its exposed to tidal current.Each wreck is about 50-60m distance...anyway its still early to determine it as a dive spot.I'll update ya'll about it

wooden...can last most likely 10years,,dived at this wooden wreck near Bidong which is more than 10 years..in Kapas is about 12 if not mistaken
cengal wood lasting though.

Hehe..let me check it out first as I'll be diving with KUSTEM. Furthermore, it's going to be a decompression dive..and Tiger and Bull Sharks have been spotted in that area.

wokay like dat 1 lah....No Problem,,can supply you stage tanks oso,,yup tigers,bull & grey oso spotted here esp. pulau YU area,wrecx at P.Karah oso at Batu mandi....achhhooo

but with the longliners been going on little bit frust, they're depleting.. :'( :'(

Ya, I know what you mean. I remember back in the 80s, Lang Tengah..Tioman...sharks will come and swim next to you when you dive.

I hope the state government efforts in trying to keep the longliners away from the islands will pay off in the long run. The only way for us to see sharks close up nowadays is to bait our Mr Sheik's dive shorts pockets with raw chicken before doing the dawn dive. Of course he never knew about the chicken until after, and he got the good shots of sharks. ;D ;D ;D

[size=12]We just got back from Redang Island with newly certified Advanced Open Water (AOW) Students. One of the speciality they had chose were wreck diving. I would like sincerely THANK YOU to Macha. We were the first divers group to visit this wreck. It was awesome and we had fun. With strong current I was having difficulties to descent. Thanks to Dive guide Setopa. Hey bro nice diving with ya. We really enjoyed this dive. We saw a lot of juvenile fishes already making this wreck their home.

2nd June till 4th June 2007
We were at Redang and dive with gipsy divers a.k.a Macha's place. With us students who want to do more adventures in diving and decided to take Advanced Open Water.

Speciality they chose
1. Navigation
2. Night diving
3. Deep diving
4. Wreck diving
5. Drift diving

1. Navigation
we went to Pulau Kerengge vis approximately 10 meters. It was fun and after their underwater navigations exercise, we were lead by MSDT Halimi Abdullah, he took us around that dive site, we were just happily finning around that area. Normal reef fishes, no current and it was fun

2. Night Dive
we went down early around 6:45pm dive site at Telok Bakau House reef. We saw hawksbill turtle and normal reef fishes. Vis very good and no current

3. Deep diving
Tanjung Tokong, vis very bad around 6 - 8 meters only. I saw sweetlips barracuda and other normal reef fishes. Strong current. DM Duak. Enjoyed this dive. I don't know why but I like this dive site. Challenging and at the same time fun!!!!

4. Wreck diving
This is the most interesting dive site for this trip. Macha took us to siamese/vietnamese wreck. Very strong current, having problem to descent. I immediately descent and finning to the nets. There were fishnets from this wreck and they sunk it with the boat and its tangled to each other. The surface current pushing us and it was tiring fighting the current, we have to use this nets hold on to it and slowly finning to descent line. Macha tied the descent line near to this nets. We went down slowly and it was amazing to see a lot of fish and the wrecks are still in good conditions. I was so happy just like a child in a playground. Even tho vis not that good i think around 5 - 6 meter, current very strong... I had GREAT TIME!!!! after that dive and on the way back to Macha's place, he announced to us that we are the first group he took to that wreck.

I saw juvenile lion fish, brown marble garuopa , puffer, and normal reef fishes. Perghhh very challenging dive and I had a good time.

5. Drift diving
Dive site Pulau 5 Southern tip, we were told that a few divers sighting whale shark around that area. No luck for us. Vis very bad even if that whale shark next to you, you can't see. Drift diving it was fun. We play " Tokyo drift". Fuuu yoooo we were flying without wings.

Since we gonna take the 3.30 boat so we decided to have 2 more extra dives.
1. Pulau 5 southern tip (wall site)
2. Stinger reef yes macro heaven. Negative entry perghhhh
