Wing weight... what's the difference? usage?
« on: May 20, 2007, 12:17:45 PM »

kekek.. silly me..

owning one.. but never have the chance to ask...

basically.. some have 40lbs... 50lbs or i see some.. 100lbs... any differences? what's the usage or why do u need a 100lbs one? why tech diving need at least 50lbs?

thanks

if i have a 40lbs... and if i want to make it 50lbs (probably future tech diving), instead of buying a new one... can i add a 10lbs weight onto my body or wherever it is? .... does it work this way? or must i get at least a 50lbs wing?

sorry.. dont know the usage....
thanks.

The difference is in the lifting capability.

I use the 30lb wing to carry a single cylinder.  I have used 40lb wing for twin cylinders without stage tanks but using that I didn't neeed weights although I do not use a backplate. I use a 50lb wing for tech dives because I carry so much weight on me in terms of the number of tanks.

If you have a 40lbs wing and you add 10lbs body weight, it dos not make the lifting capability of the wing 50lb, but lesser.

ah.. thanks for the great info... :)

i think i've got it mixed up :P .. it is for pulling you up instead of pushing you down .. :)

so.. one is really heavy .. eg, 250lbs body weight.. and he is carrying 3-4 tanks.... a 50lbs will do him no good then?  :-? .. i mean lifting him up... :)

what do u think... if u r using 40lbs with bp with 3-4 tanks .. is the lifting strength enough? :P

I can't think right now. Maybe you can try the configurations underwater yourself. [smiley=beer.gif]

its free advertising mah... the wing is kinda good lah but then no pocket.. i have many things to hang 1 such as sosej, slates la, torch maybe.... so if me.. would prefer a BC with pocket unless if using wetsuits with pocket..

i saw 1 b4 lah damm cun leh.. a chicks with Camaro wetsuits and got side pocket like commando... but diving fails....

i didn't say cannot advertise...

a wing supposed to have no pocket.. but it all depends on how you can hide your stuff. if u want a pocket.. get a pocket that can be mounted on the waist webbing or clip to the d-ring... or just get a jacket style bc  ::)
