To lend OR Not to lend.. that is the question..
« on: September 01, 2006, 01:32:02 PM »

Yyoo people in da house..

I'm in a delema.. Feeling kindda sceptical and undecided  :-/. Help me thru this.

Here's the thing.. Recently a diver friend texted me wanting to borrow my Reg & BC. This is the first time someone ever asked to borrow them. Soo.. I'm feeling kindda wierd. So.. anyway, I'm sceptical becoz I'm the type that really 'jaga' my 'barang' so.. I really dont know how others would threat my stuff. I've not given any answere so far..

1. If I do give : Should I remind him/her to handle with care?
2. If I dont : Should I give excuses?

How aahhh...???  :-/

Hahaha. First, ask yourself, how much do you treasure your reg and BCD. Number two, how much did you spend for them. Number three, is that person capable enough to pay should something happens to either equipment. Number four, is he/she the kind who looks after things (a good judge would be how does he/she treats his/her car). Number five, how much extra would it cost that person to rent it from a dive shop as opposed to paying you should your equipment is spoiled. Number six, how long have you known that person? As long as Ija and Nazli? Longer?

can pinjam with caveat.... kalu rosak ganti baru. Eg. if u pinjam 7 my RG3 octopus rosak, ganti with SP S600 or Posiedon Jetstream .....hehehe.....

On serious note, eqpts can be a personal things to one self. If you are willing to lend it to others, make sure that person take care of it like you do.... And if you are the one borrowing it, do the same. Treat it as your own personal belonging...

Lara,

IMO, the criteria that Seademon listed has to be the most reasonable guideline. As diving equipments are very personal, the criteria listed is very objective and yet fair to both parties.  8-)

Demon,

Since I've supported your posting, can get my 5 stars alrdy or not??  ;D ;D ;D hehehe

Stay away from letting ur friend borrow ur diving equipment .... coz when something happen to it, ur friendship wont be the same like b4, it become a talk.

Get em to rent it from dive operator better.

Thats a really good question.

Well I do have that problem too but as others in their replies have said. Only borrow to those whom you trust MOST and have the money (use your own judgement la) to repair if anything goes wrong with it.

Also if someone wants to borrow mine, I always tell them to get me something nice from that place (hahaha). Kira macam rental fee la but very cheap mah  ;)

My 2 sen !

Yeah mnim.. you, demon and the rest are all right.

BUT AGREE WITH THESE :
> is that person capable enough to pay should something happens to either equipment.

> is he/she the kind who looks after things (a good judge would be how does he/she treats his/her car).

> how much extra would it cost that person to rent it from a dive shop as opposed to paying you should your equipment is spoiled.

Something to really think about.
