same pressure?
« on: April 08, 2007, 09:38:25 AM »

hi guys,

haha.. my silly question again...

this has kept me thinking all this while...

are they having the same pressure?

a diver is at the bottom of a big water tank 30m deep, but placed on 0m sea level, and a diver is at 30m below see level ...

any answers?

wahhh..you are really home sick arent you?

ok...of the bat...not refering the books and lazy to think....different pressure in both thanks...the above sea level takes into account the the concept behind altitude diving..low atmospheric pressure....but in reality not much difference cause tank height is only 30 meters.

atmospheric pressure + ambient pressure= absolute pressure.......for the example above the ambient pressure is the same and but the atmospheric is not?

correct or not?.....either way...can someone show the math?.....i hate physics

Is the tank been filled with FRESH WATER? .... Fresh & Sea water are different density....different weight.

nope the pressure is not the same.even though the tank is located at 0m sea level, the water in the big tank would exert pressure to the diver equal to rho x g x h (density x gravity x height of water column). a diver 30m below sea level however would have the same pressure exerted (if the water has the same density) + 14.7 psia atmospheric pressure

Same pressure. Pressure is fluid density x gravity x depth, when all three parameters are the same, therefore same pressure.

Note
1) Since both sea water, density remain the same.
2) In 30m apart, gravity doesn't vary.
3) The effective depth is the same, 30m.

actually ar... my opinion... is almost the same or slightly diff only... the only thing that if this tank is place above sea level.. like in genting.. then its not the same already.... but if its at 0m above sea level.. same thingy..... 1 2 know why.. try dive in swimming pool.. u still need to equalize and consumption of air is almost the same as well.. or if pool boring.. then try at Aquaria... ada shark, rays and turtle.... and ppl to see you.. with mouth open.... and u can scare off the kids as they might think ur some alien....

for further question... ask PADI.com. They will be more happy than to answer your questions.

Wah..lots of money. Should try diving the sea once in a while. Cheaper. If you want to see sharks come close to you, let me or Sheik know. But what I like most about diving Aquaria is having the opportunity to interact with the lengluis.

I paid for the 1st dive. 2nd dive was free because I'm writing an article for a Hong Kong marine aquarist magazine about "Dive with Shark".

hmm.. what are the charges ah?

hey SD, interacting with lengluis? u mean those lengluis on the opposite side of the glass? or those workers there?

you can check with any engineering student who studied fluid dynamics, this is a common question.

RM400/dive for certified diver. U can bring your own gear or use theirs. Maybe you will think that's too expensive, I don't think so because the tank itself cost more than RM10M and maintenance cost is very high. One thing for sure, you will see sand tiger sharks down there. U don't have to go all the way to South Africa/GBR to see these sharks. Just ask yourself, when was the last time u touch a live shark?

U will get a cert[ch65292]t-shirt & DVD at the end of the dive.

What SD said is the mermaids there. Am I right?

hello my fren... u cant interact with the lengluis there lah... the mermaid and u wont clash lah.. during ur dives... 400 is worth it loh.. as shuwei said.. u can touch those sharks... and sometimes turtle too... if its feeding time... oh yeah dive 1 time down under there = u need to dive for how many years to see so many stuff..... although sea is more bigger and have more space.... and shuwei u dive twice there ar.... good lah u to support our own Msian aquaria......

That's my estimate as a building contractor. I've interview their curator, Paul Hamilton, he bought me to the visit their filtration system and the like, wow all $$$$$ leh. Especially I myself is a marine aquarist, i know those equipment cost how much. The "salt" itself cost RM 300k a month.

i know it's worth it... u can get to see all the fishes, what i'm trying to say is, the charges is on the high side.. and no or few publics would want to go there just to see fishes. a beach for relaxation/fun is more worth that kind of money. i guess it they can lower down the charges, more public would want to dive there, and thus, maybe they will have more business.

wondering.. if diving there... can i get my logbook signed :)

No, the max depth is 4m. Well, mayb I've talked too much on behalf of them, why don't you contact them and ask about this? Hopefully u can work out special deal with them and ppl over here can enjoy it?
