hello oldturtle...  :hello: i want to share with you my exp with a dive operator in Mabul Island...

This is based on my past exp... its actually my first time involving in Scuba diving when it happens....  :(   I have to pay RM220 for a single Discovery Scuba... and what i got for that amount of money is crap.... a simple briefing of how to equalize and clearing mask and a 10-15 minutes of compress air (depth 8-10m)...  :( for a non exp diver at that moment im a excited and happy but after i got serious with diving, im finally realized that im being rob in a day sight... sighhh  :(

Hi Chip. Discovery dive should be conducted with alot of fun and to stir your interest but instead resulted in long-face.  Shame on the Instructor/DM.

During my OW course , being a greeny ,I was *'forced' to buy weight !!! (Lead) .  :angry4:

*realised many dives later ,I began to look like a bloody fool when going for dive trip on my own carrying those lead. :$

Yes.the leads is still with me ..it is used as large paper weight !! :D

If you plan to go to Miri to dive... never ever go to Tropical dives..... My experience 3 years ago, after a bumpy ride by bus from Bintulu for 3 hours just to get to Miri to dive, the DC just cancel it because of bad weather on the day that I supposed to dive without prior notice...!!! I even wait in front of DC for 1 hour waiting the shop to open then they told me the dive was cancel. But the weather for that 2 days just fine no rain at all.... Go to Red Monkey Divers... new DC in Miri!!!

when I think of it, it's funny buying weights ... arhh ... that's some expensive paper wts, but really ... a DC should not even be selling it knowing that the industry provides free tanks and weights for dives

oldturtle,
nothing to be shame of, back in 1995, those taking Open Water Class will have to buy weight & belt, 0.5mm or 1mm wetsuit, booties n fins & of course mask & snorkle hehe....maybe because it is not expensive.
i still have a few friend that have weight & belt with them...... now the weight not cheap anymore, those who went fishing should know better because they buy it a lot....haha...

Of all the threads, this is the most amusing! Especially when one is forced to buy 6 weights! I know this has been in here like forever but I still find it amusing every single time. I know it's way too unfair but can't help it, this is funny! :)
