I would like to ask your oppinions what would you do if you are in my situation and plainly  bullied by the trip organiser Leslie attenboroteugh of Ocean Diving System?? I joined a trip to raja ampat on 2 mei to 9 mei 2011 which was introduced by my instructor Mr TEO KIM SENG. He supposed to go with me but, at last he did not turn up and I was left alone without knowing a single soul on board! it all started when I got up the boat earlier and took the best room upstair. when he came in he chased me out by telling me that the room meant for the captain and the dive master, finally i found out that he gave the room to Dato' P.Y Choong of choong & Co Avocates and solicitors. When I asked him why he did that he shouted at me " shout-up" go stay in the room alone and do not grumble!". when I said " I also paid for it " he answered " YOU think your money very big ah??" . I said " you spoiled my holidays! he answered " you actually spoiled my holidays!!. ,
finally to stop me from a fight , I walked away!! In fact I had not been happy with the extra charges he asked after the full payment made! after full settlement he asked us to pay RM200 for marine park fee which was not mentioned earlier and RM200 for "homages" to the four raja to be able to dive there! since a few of us complained about "homages" so it was not collected but, we were asked to pay for the drinking water and food to be consumed on board! so if you are in my situation alone on board with his son and friends around what would you do? other than ask me to keep quiet to let him bully?? after all I was just asked for explaination why I was chased out! I did not mind to give away the room to the dato' if it was asked in a more diplomatic way!! the trip was a real sucks!!

sorry to hear that...very bad experience and some time if you are luck, you are able to meet & make friends with nice people...some time are not...Frankly speaking, for me, i would go with friends that i know of....also depends on the schedule and time, if friends can join you and still want to go for diving, no choice, depends on your luck. In this case, i think the organiser should tell u in a proper manner or before boarding, they should tell you what would be the things that need to pay attention or any additional charges before hand. As far as i know, most of the divers are quite friendly.....Maybe i am not in the position to comment as i duno what happened there but things happened, some time out of our expectations...Bring up this issue and discuss with them, i think they will have a better answers. If not, too bad, no second time...this is just purely my opinion only...no offend...

Dear Halim,

Your statement which implies that I did not show up last minute is untrue. And I am greatly offended is this is what you wanted to convey. It is both uncalled for and slanderous!
I have informed you of my inability to go for the trip 6 weeks before the trip and the reason being is due to work commitments.
In a matter of fact I am still in the United States right now. Also as proof that I did with full intention to go for the trip below is a copy of my flight ticket which i booked way earlier.

The fact that you made this baseless accusation is very disturbing.
Leslie has been contributing a lot to the SCUBA diving community in Malaysia. In a matter of fact he graduated from the same batch of instructors as Micheal Tong of NAUI. His NAUI number is 1 number after Michael Tong, which is 4 digit btw! Most instructors now have 7 digits. So you can imagine how long he has been in this business. This of course cannot a quantifiable yardstick to measure you might say, but he has established a reputation. Your instructor, Ahmat knows him quite well too and i believe based on the conversation you forwarded to me in facebook, Tony Lim knows him too. And i'm not too sure who else knows him in this forum.
But lets not have the reputation of the man precedes the actual story.

I do not know the full details of the trip  and you have voiced your dissatisfaction but it is only one side of the story. But let's get the rest of the people who attended this trip post up their comments as well to see the whole picture.

I urge the rest of the forum members to hang on till the rest of the trip participants has given their side of the story.

Dear members, I was a participant of that trip, and I have nothing but good things
to say about the trip on an overall. Of course, there were minor hiccups here and
there, but it was all managable.

However, I am perplexed that and curious on the intentions of Halim taking the trouble
of registering himself here just to post a lengthy and biased comment on the trip. Some of
the comments are true, BUT BIASED. Alot of the things mentioned by Halim are slanderous
towards all the names quoted by himself. He seems to be trying hard to paint an innocent
personality for himself while labelling the organizers of the trip as bullies. I find it hard to
believe a man of his age can still be bullied by a bunch of young adults on a trip. In fact,
Halim was pretty vocal in the beginnning of the trip on how well travelled, how hardcore
he is on the sea and to many peoples disgust, how colourfull his trips to adult places in
european counties and Thailand are.

I can assure all members here that this story has been highly sensationalized and made to
deframe the organizers of the trip. There are many happenings during the trip which Halim
has not revealed to the member here, as revealing it will show the true reason of why he
claims he was "bullied". Halim, if you would like to bring your "wolf with a sour grape" attitude
to the open, I will not hessitate to share with the rest of the members on what REALLY
happened during the LOB.

As of now, I believe and open apology to all parties which you have wrongly accused is in order
and that this thread should be removed with consent from the moderators.

WOW !!!
I didn't expect there would be drama in a diving forum too ...
As a newbie, I hope this issue would be solved in the most subtle manner possible as if not, it will only tarnish the good names of the diving sport.

Peace.  :toothy5:

Accusation must be with fact and proof.  Just he says and I say wont settle or resolve anything.  Before any trip, I am sure they will provide you the trip details.  What is inclusive and what is not inclusive.

Then again, if you are not happy with their service, why don't you go and talk to them.

Before you join or purchase trip package please read their trips details/itinerary.  Ask questions before the trip so you can expect and anticipate with the trip.

It first started with the loading of the items onto the transfer boat.
Halim quickly jump onto the transfer boat and just sat there!
We all moved the luggage and equipment to the boatman on the transfer boat. All he did was sit int he transfer boat as everybody was busy moving stuffs! The transfer boat made 2 trips. The 1st trip was for luggage and equipment, Halim and the boatman were the only people who were on this trip. The 2nd trip was for moving people.

When everybody boarded the boat, we settled down on the deck to relax waiting for Leslie's instructions on the division of rooms.
Leslie mentioned that there was a room on the top deck and it should be for the captain or the Divemaster. Everybody understood it as a joke.
But Halim went into the room and removed his luggage out of the room to the lower level room. While everybody else was busy choosing room mates.
The only person left is without a roommate is Halim and Nick. Then everybody move into their respective rooms.

Later at night, Halim confronted Leslie at the dining area. Why did Leslie evict Halim and gave the room to Choong couple. Then there was a heated arguement and what halim posted was true. Leslie then asked the Choong couple to give the room to Halim instead. But Halim just left without saying a word... But did not move his luggage. The choong couple were in a limbo as I could see that they were prepared to surrender the room to Halim. But there was no action on Halim's end.

So from my point of view, Halim was set on taking the room on top but did not consult Leslie as the trip organiser of his wishes.
As Leslie jokingly told about the room being meant for the Captain or DM, Halim felt that he jumped the gun and quietly moved his stuff to the lower deck. But when Halim found out that the room was given to the Choong couple, he was upset. I believe that this could have been prevented if Halim just communicated his wishes of wanting that room. Everybody was excited but fatigued from the journey there.

yungai, for the best interest of everyone and respect for everyone, please remove the photo of halim. you may not like him but lets respect him and not put up his photo for all to know. this is a very personal attack.

what halim did may or not be nice or polite, but as civilized people, lets not put personal identifiable information on the net, especially on public forums, without the person's consent or permission, which i believe is the basis and basics of all Netiquette.

I totally agree with vash_h there. Although Halim's actions are uncalled for, simply posting his pictures here might only make this issue(which seems to cool down a bit) only worse. Who knows, maybe by you doing so, another person will start posting other pictures too and a small issue that could have been solved with a simple apology to the parties concerned will turn into a never-ending feud.

I know that I'm new to this forum and may not have any right in this matter since it does not concern me, but I strongly feel that I must voice out my opinion as I am now(hopefully) part of this diving community so that the harmony that is maintained here will not crumble all because of one bad diving trip experienced by a fellow diver.

Dear vash_h,

Not supporting any side of the story, from my humble point of view, halim already did the personal attack since ever the first ever post by mentioning name without consent.

so i believe that he himself already break the code of the basics and basics of all netiquette....
my 2 cents opinion... dont shoot me yeah... peace....

My husband and I are the Choong Couple mentioned. When we got on board, we all discovered that Halim wanted the big room on top for himself. Nobody made any complains and we all moved down to the smaller rooms downstairs. Leslie thought that Halim was being very selfish for wanting the big room for himself and should actually have told him so. However, he made a joke about it being a room for the captain and/or dive master.

Halim then felt quilty and moved on his own accord downstairs and arbitrarily took over a room and removed the t-shirt of of one of the boys who had put it on a bed, thus upsetting another person. He was effectively  telling everybody that he wants a room all to himself when we were all sharing. Since he had moved downstairs, my husband and I then decided to move upstairs since nobody had indicated that they had wanted to do so. LET ME MAKE IT VERY CLEAR! LESLIE DID NOT GIVE THE ROOM TO US!!!!!

vash_h,

i believe yungai was merely emulating SuperAdmin.
he did after all link all the names.... to the facebook profile as well.

but then again. when somebody makes accusation in the open but still wants to hide behind the computer... isn't that Hypocrisy?
To be open and yet to hide behind the veil of a computer?

do you have a vested interest in this?
you did make a statement on the 3rd post.

I agree with aqeebz. We all humans always make mistake. Yea..Sometimes it's really hard to admit even though we knew we did mistake too.

So the best still we all learn from this MISTAKE and to remember not to repeat the same thing.   :)

Peace always...
