Safety course.
« on: May 12, 2008, 09:49:32 AM »

Hi,

I'm wondering BOSIET thingy in ulu klang (company- Consist) is it certified by OPTIO like pasir gudang one?

Also, would like to know is there any other safety course training center which is certified by OPTIO?

Tried google it but too much information and confusing.

Does BOSIET included HUET or we need to add on HUET while taking BOSIET??

Thanks

Consist...only if they have certain amount of OPITO candidates THEN they will run the OPITO course.

BOSIET comes with HUET.

OPTIO approve training centre..... Miri & Pasir Gudang.

The 3-day OPITO BOSIET course done by Ironore at CONSIST does include HUET, but they will run it if they have enough candidates (16 students).

I have yet to receive a call-up by them.

Nope...no rebreathers. You need a hard hat and umbilicals mostly.

I don't know why you need one. Maybe they are talking about the topside one which is to be worn during emergency on the platform.  The EBA, as pointed out by Martinjoe, is used during egress from stricken chopper.

Not the diving rebreather, but same concept.

If you have a hot water bottle...the rubber one, and some washing machine hose, you can build your own rebreather.

The BOSIET with Emergency Breathing Systems (EBS).

Please take note that the EBS is the new requirement for Petronas and Shell for offshore entrant.

The EBA mainly in use in offshore (correct me if I am wrong, CDs) is the STASS/HEED III system.  There are other SCBA systems in use. There is that introduction of a rebreather such as the ones submariners have, and that is for over water use.  This is probably to reduce the chances of air embolism, something that might happen if you forget to breathe out while using the STASS/HEED III system.  This rebreather is worn around the neck, much like the ones submariners use.  It's a short duration rebreather, enough to last until you make it to the surface from the striccken chopper.

BOSIET includes all that.  It stands for Basic Offshore Survival Induction and Emergency Training.  So it includes all aspects of offshore survival.  BOSIET gives you the ticket to work offshore as you are trained in all methods of travelling to an offshore platform.  Without BOSIET, you will not get an offshore passport from any of the O&G companies.

On the first day of the BOSIET course, you will undergo a class on 'Travelling Offshore' and that includes by helicopter, boat, boat transfer.  Then you do a practical on basket transfer and swing rope transfer.

Second day you will do the Basic Life Support theory, HUET theory and practical.  Last day you will do the Fire Safety and Fire Fighting.

Additional Payment for Travel Safety By Boat ... SHELL requirement & must be OPITO approve.

PETRONAS have it own set of requirement which is easier then SHELL.

As for SHELL...BOSIET + Travel Safely By Boat must be OPITO Approve.

When U do ur medical ... Petronas & Shell have their own Panel Doctor, U will have to pay for BOTH.

the OPITO BOSIET sea survival course organized jointly with Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd from Brunei.
that was the previous standing when i took the T-BOSIET course end 2006. hope by now consist would have their own certification from OPITO (offshore petroleum industry training organization)
but last i check from OPITO website consist still not listed as the certified training centre under OPITO.. www.opito.com

the main player in this offshore training game in malaysia is still MSTS and they are well known here even in Spore offshore guys were sent to MSTS

All stop! Some companies in Europe used rebreathers for deep saturation bailout.

During the OPITO Heli crash course also have Rebreather training just for escape use...without a scrubber.

It works fine in the pool.

scrubber removes carbon dioxide that we exhaled and leaves the oxygen and other gases for re-breathing.

Then how about PPO2? kena toxic already!! maximum air can only go to 65M or 7.5 ATA

if talking about deep sat, 65M gives you  1.57 PPO2.. then convulsion.. surface, diver one has a problem
