I'm heading to Kaleebso this weekend. I have space in the car. Those who wants to join can get free ride.

You should try Kaleebso! The owners and crew are awesome, friendly and the food is really good. Mebbe you should plan for March 17-18

I hope to drum up enough interest so that the trip that weekend will happen.

mamak penang dont just be tempeted...just go.
For the RM750 and unlimited dives , this a great offer. Once the season is back u wont get RM750 unless the organizer
kind enough to give a discount.
Totally eat dive eat dive eat dive eat dive and dive dive eat.
Look at the sea and njoy the view.
What a life for that whole 2 days trip

Back from the trip.

Viz was amazing for Jarak (15m). We saw lots of moorish idol, banner fishtriggers, dog puffer, nudi, box fish, snapper and a turtle.
Generally diving was good but would like to dive the 'unjang' next time.

Irukandji nice report,
15m visibility? thats good, i believe it is because 4th & 5th February fall on 11th & 12 Rabiulawwal (Hijriah Calender/ muslim calender)
according to a lot of fisherman, the best date to go fishing are from 8th to 11th of the month (hijriah calender) because the water is calm, a lot of fish & the visibility is good.
if we go diving during this date 8th to 11th, i believe the water is calm & the visibility is good (maybe)
what do u think?

hahaha mamak penang i think it is because of the moon have something to do with the tide. 8th-11th when the moon phase is about to full on the 15th.
The tide is a bit rough during full moon and new moon.
Anyhow who can predict mother nature. At least the fisherman no stranger to the sea and its condition.
They know better when is a good time and a bad time.

Yes you are right mamakpenang! Viz depends on tide and tide is all about the position of the moon and the sun. Hijrah calender is based on the moon that is.
We were there during the end of neap tide, not much of water movement thus vis is better, but I'd say fish is less during this time as not much of movement of water, less oxygen.

mmi: Jarak is about 60km off Hutan Melintang jetty. It's a 5 hour boat journey traveling at about 7 knots. On Kaleebso, you don't really feel it. Take a nap, watch a movie, play some card games... and you are there.
As for 15m viz, it's just an estimate. But I can see the bottom of the sea from the surface and the depth is 12m. It's good for Jarak.

Looks like I can't make it on March 17-18. But when I look on Kaleebso's web site, that's the only weekend they have in March!!! Bummer!!! Oh well. Mebbe next year.
