basically any dive center will do... the Open Water Course normally require 3days to complete and the price around RM850-RM950 (the course price alone not include accommodation, transportation, meals and etc..).. just prepare around RM1400-RM1500 in your budget.. I did mine in Mabul around RM1500 all in.. not include flight ticket from KL to Tawau..

Open Water is a very important course. It prep one with essential/crucial/important knowledge in diving. I like to think OWD as FOUNDATION to the underwater world. Although there would be series of advance courses in diving, OWD is the very core of all. If the core is good, then the diver and the whole diving experience will also be good. If not, the rest will follow suit as well. Sounds too much? But hell it is.

If poeple ask me, i will take open water very seriously. Get a good instructor who loves diving and teaching others to dive CORRECTLY more than loving the money from the student. I love instructor who goes to the very detail part of it. Not only they make u feel safe, but they will make u an excellent diver.

Since you are in Malacca, the nearest place to do your open water is in Tioman island.. many dive centers to choose from.. but currently east coast islands (including tioman) closed due to monsoon until feb or march 2012. Some dive center offer early bird promotion you can refer to thread below :-

Hi Fakhruddin, :hello: Welcome to MUW and "an interesting world" as well! You can't see the "dark world" till your OWD come to you. All "dark world" will turn into "clear world" once your eyes is open widely by OWD.. ;)
