Newbie here...
« on: July 30, 2010, 10:35:56 AM »

Salam & good morning..

Hello senior members.. sifu2.. and fellow members. I just got my OWD licence last month. Done it at Tenggol Island. I am planning to make this hobby as an active one. I dont know how to swim neither floating. I am planning to take swimming lesson as well. For the time bening.. i spend most of water time at PADE Shah Alam.

Ok.. sorry for the short notice but I just got my membership approved this morning. Just a quick one. I am planning to get some diving gear at MIDE today. Since budget is not an issue for now (baru dapat rezeki tergolek).. what do you think i can get with rM3k over there?

I hope sifu can help me out.

Thanks..

i think nowadays can get a lot.. but prioritize la. ermm.. maybe get a good dive comp first, and the rest of your gears.. take your time exploring your options :) some tips..  dun just go for prices you may regret making purchases simply because they are cheap :) . a good fit is important (especially for wetsuits, fins, mask etc

Welcome to the forum..... congrats on the certification and rezki tergolek hehehehe

Anyhow Ketam suggest getting basic gear such as Mask, Fin and dive comp first. Your own regulator are also a good idea at the moment. Wet suit should be next.

Mask and fin are very subjective and personal, you are never going to be happy with rented ones. Dive comp are vital safety equipment and they are rarely available for rental. Your own regs so that you know its usage and maintenance history. Wet suit because everybody pees in theirs hehehehe.

BCD if you have balance cash (you can rent them anywhere), DSMB is also a key equipment. Choose wisely and do not buy on impulse. Try and ask the other forumers on their views. Ketam's 1/2 cent view hehehe

both are good choice. That depends on personal preference. Try it, u might like both. I'm currently using atomic full foot and satisfied with it.

I was there till it was closed. Wanna wait till the last minute buying but end up no size availabe for the rash guard. But i managed to secure the Mares bag with a very good price. The other items remained the same as the price I bought on the earlier day.  ;)
