Living and diving in Malaysia
« on: July 14, 2011, 05:35:29 AM »

Hi all,

I will be moving to Malaysia in mid-September to live, and hope to spend a lot of time diving too ! I dived for a couple of months before at Alu Alu divers in Perhentian, and loved it.

I am really looking to make new friends/ diving buddies who also live in Malaysia and are free to hang out and go diving regularly. I have around 300 dives and am considering getting a divemaster license- not in order to make a living but to get my diving for free !

Not sure where I will be living- at the moment KK is favourite, but am also considering Penang.

If anyone there is in the same boat as me I would love to hear from you !

Paul

Hi Paul,

welcome to Malaysia. I've been to Alu-alu as well. Yep, great diving experience back there at Alu-Alu and my favourite spot back there in Perhentian is no doubt the one and only 'Tokong Laut'.

I'm living in Penang. Well, i must say that u won't be getting much diving here. But it will be a different story in KK i guess. For a diver, i believe living in KK will grant you easier access to the sea (superb dive sites over there). Penang unfortunately is not divable. The nearest for us is payar (which is just so and so) and i believe now we have Song-Song Island (which is also so and so).

Anyhowe welcome and do join us for more dives.

Thanks all !

Sabah will be my first choice to live, not just for the good diving but because it's a little closer to my ex and little son who are in Taiwan, so it's easier for them to come and visit.

In the meantime, I will be diving with Alu Alu on Perhentian from 20th September for 2-3 weeks, so if any of you guys or girls is looking for a dive buddy I would love you to join me !

Peace and happy diving  :glasses9:
