Hi kids! smile

Great news!

Upon the launching of IYOR ’08 (International Year of the Reef 2008) and the success of the SIP (Sustainable Island Programme) last year, Sime Darby Plantation has continue to sponsor (APPROVED! smile) another 1.5 years for the programme, thanks to Shafie *smile* from Wild Asia for her hard work.

So, what's happening for this year's SIP programme?
1) Survey trips for certified EcoDivers (Reef Check).
   - New places for us to go – Aur and Tenggol, yeayy! smile

2) Eco-checks and workshops at resorts in Tioman and Perhentian (Wild Asia and Reef Check).
   - Continuing the efforts last year, the same activities will be done with the local community, dive and resort operators to deal with
environmental issues on the island, focusing on the sewage and wastewater management and the physical damage on the reefs.

Calling all Certified Ecodivers!

This year’s 3d/2n survey trips sponsored by Sime Darby Plantation:

Expenses wise, the sponsored amount does not include transportation and dive equipment rental. Only ex-jetty covered (ferry return, accommodation, dives and meals).

So, Ecodivers mark these dates on your calendar and start applying for your annual leaves! winkk

Cheers!

Hi Divers,
Yon and I have never dived at Aur. Is it ex-Mersing?
How many hours' boat ride? I heard that the boat ride is very looooooonng. So do we travel at night by boat? Please advise how to get there and when's the best time to leave KL to catch the boat, thanks!  smile
Mabel

Hi Mabel & Yon,

I think Ummi will confirm the ferry departure time later, normally is around 1am. I think someone will arrange the convoy as well, so don't have to worry much.

Any certified Ecodivers who would like to join for this trip? At least 1 more person would do.

We will all carpool to Merang jetty. 2 cars will be leaving from KL and 1 car from Kuantan. From KL, we can leave at 12 am. I will arrange who will be with who and post it in here soon.
