Okay guys, some updates...  Bear in mind that below is for the Ecodiver certification course and not the dates of the reef check surveys under the Sustainable Island Programme (SIP), which I will put up later.

The earlier posts I have put up on RM 750 for 4-day certification course still stands. Alternatively....

For this option I'm putting below, it is all based on:-
- One day academic training in KL
- 3D/2N (one weekend) on the island for the remainder of the course
- Maximum number of people per course on the island = 10. (because ratio of trainer to trainees is 1:3)

hello hello EcoDiver Certification Course Dates

The cost is RM 660 per person and this includes ferry transfer, food & accommodation, 6 certification training dives. This cost is standard for all the 3 dive centres listed below. This excludes the reef check academic lessons and buoyancy session at Cheras (Kembara) on March 16th, which will cost RM 90 for training materials and RM 35 for rental of tanks.

A deposit of RM 250 by March 8th for the March 28th course, and April 1st for the April courses would be very much appreciated as this would secure your places, otherwise you may be denying other keen ones the certification opportunity should you cancel at the very last minute.

We have agreed that for the SIP, trainers fees for Ecodiver certification will be covered by the Programme.

Its a great deal guys.... and we are looking for serious EcoDivers who will continue doing reef surveys outside of the SIP in the near future. So divers going for this certification below, pls ensure you have your own dive gear....

babe... a quick one.... can do within weekends only ar?? so that no need to take leave.... especially the one at tioman... hehe... depart fri nite...check in sat morning.... dive dive and dive on sat and sun..... then check out from the island on sunday evening....possible?? haha...

I wish I could, but it is best that we do not rush and squeeze everything into 2 days. Its tiring for the trainees because there is so much to learn and we want to ensure that there is quality in the training carried out by the EcoTrainers and received by the soon-to-be-EcoDivers.

Originally it was over 4 days, but because we plan to do the academic and buoyancy check in KL, that takes one day off the island.

That is as much as we can compromise in terms of scheduling...

shafi,

Will you organize any bouyancy practice in the pool before the session starts? It would be better if we were to have training here couple of times (for those who needs the practice like me lar smile )

Looks like most of us will be doing it at TDC... surprise surprise...  smileinbox

I think Bijan, Deepblu and Miezegreat has done the pool session and reef check academic lessons in January, so they are exempted from the March 16th one. For the remaining 7, kindly register for the Cheras Pool session and have cash handy to pass on to Reef Check Malaysia for the training material as well as for the rental of tanks.

Thanks a million!!   icon_thumleft

I say..not available on the April 11-13 at Tioman. Shafi,is it possible to have the schedule on April 25-27 at Perhentian moved to Tioman? I guess from the respone most of us in Klang valley woluld prefer Tioman for obvious reasons...logistic and all (my opinion le..)

JD my brother... because of your reputation for having excellent buoyancy, I shall bend over (backwards) for you and ask Tioman Dive Centre if they can accommodate for that weekend. They might have a group from the UK coming in on that April 25-27th for reef check training, but they will get back to me by the end of the day if the dates are good.. Will keep you posted.   winkk

I agree, driving to Mersing is a lot less painful...

Well, if that is what most of the Klang valley fellas would prefer, I'll see what we can do. Promise me that if the switch can be done, you will rally your buddies to do the certification! Otherwise, all this hassle...    icon_scratch

Also, you can do the March 16th academic lessons and pool session first with your buddies and do the island certification later on. Hope to see your names up on that list!  smile

Hi marti1njo3,

Thanks for putting your name in the March 16th list. You can always go for the academic and pool session first and take up certification much later on, either through us or on your own at your convenience, with any of the Reef Check network dive centres. But the rates might be different then. The RM 660 is a special rate because it is for the Sustainable Island Programme.

Excellent buoyancy ah!...now whoever gave you that notion? No problems in joining guys from the uk as the saying goes Go Places,Do things n Meet People. As for the academic lessons and pool session,I have
done it in January but no harm in doing the pool sessions to perfect my already so call excellent buoyancy smile

For wanting to do it in Tioman, like I said this is my personal opinion, don't know about the rest. As for rallying my buddies...Atuk,Hafize,Shazay,Wing and Divexus...what's up guys?
