hello raseem.

Sorry for the late reply.

as far as i know there is no one doing free diving courses in Malaysia.

i did my AIDA 1 Star in Koh Lanta, Thailand and as far as i know my instructor has gone back to France.

I heard of an out fit doing courses in thailan under the FREE (its not free, its just a name) certification. i have try to contact them but to no avail.

what you can do it try to contact AIDA and ask if any of their instructors are currently base in Asia. also check out the education section for updates.

www.aida-international.org

Also this is the dive shop thet i went to in Koh Lanta.

hello raseem.

its difficult to get the long fins in malaysia. if there is, it would be either cressi garas or some old stock that is bloody heavy.

i got mine from the internet. there are a lot of choices out there.

if you want cressi you can contact their dealer here, PM BabyFin for more info....she endorse Cressi..heh

Is it the same technic that from the movie "Into the Blue"? Those ppl can dive into underwater for few meter with mask and fins only. Any requirement for the diver and the environment to do the free diving? I thk at least the visibility should be very clear.

And i saw the record from the website given, someone can do breath holding for 8 ~ 9min..... wow, they really great.

yup.as the dive they did in into the blue. as a matter of fact, the hero of the story (i forgot his name) admit in an interview in PADI Undersea Journal after the movie was release, he got hooked to freediving and was training to improve him self.

the requirement for freedive is the same as going for a normal scuba dive, but persannaly i place more emphasis on surface conditions, visibility and objectives.

that'll be 4 minutes without oxygen circulating to the brain that its considered brain dead. i.e. when ur heart stops pumping. when freediving, oxygen still goes. its longer cos of physiological changes - such lowered heart rate, more blood to core body, splenic contractions, higher CO2 tolerance...

marine mammals do that all the time.

have u seen a video of a freediver swimming with monofin? just beautiful.

I think I cant last more then 60 seconds inside a pool.....

but seriously, how to dive or get into the bottom of the pool.....lets say i want to try n dive + test how long i can stay underwater....

any methods + training ourselves at public pool?

normally i go to the olympic size pool > i try to dive.....>but i keep floating to the surface  :D

whats the correct technique? hold my breath?
