Yess...the title will be ...First Malaysian To Do 50 Meter No Limits Dive And Die.

But if you are talking about Malaysian Book Of Record, 10 meter would be a record right because no body has done a sanction dive before? after thet any body wants to break the record..let them lah..heh

Who knows ...maybe there are any nelayan(fisherman) that can do free dive but
they didn't know that it actually a sport outside malaysia.

Is this some form of self consolation for us Malaysian.
Most of our fishermen are in boat nowdays. Dive to catch fish, mana dapat cari makan.

yup, there are lot of fisherman that can free dive but doing it as a living. i see a lot of the anak anak (children) of fisherman that dive from out riggers with a make shift speargun or carrying a bag to forege the sea. but they have no understanding of the science of diving...so busted eardrums are a common problem among them.

i sometimes wonder of their potential if given the proper training.

freediving in malaysia is not well know. we know it as an extream sports when we see astro or see Tanya Streeter on a TAG advert. and this performance freediving puts us off. every snorkeler is halfway a free diver. you dont have to go deep or last a long time under water. 5 meter or hold your breath for 30 seconds is enough for us to enjoy the sea and see the marine life that is there  on the reef. just imagine the potential freedivers that we can have if we are able to cenvert and educate the snorkelers that are around. and you dont need special or expensive equipment to do it.

the 1st time i snorkeled at redang was assist by one of the resort attendant who also
happened to be the village boy cum fisherman laa..
he dived and i just watched from the surface... he told me he had lots of
time ears/nose/eyes bleeding...uuurghhh....

the emotions of having to dive without BCD and tank is speechless...
it is very wonderful having to hold my breath for a few seconds even though only
5 meters deep in the pool...i never tried at sea...coz i'm afraid if i make
any stupid mistake and burden my dive buddies with my actions.. :crybaby2:
