Turtle Poachers
« on: April 08, 2007, 01:04:21 AM »

I regularly surf flickr pages to see Fuji E900 users to sort of gauge and have a general idea what the camera is capable and this guys' flickr page is one of them.

Imagine the feeling when I stumbled across his page recently when he photoshot the recent incident when a large number of turtles were confiscated from a trawler/boat in Sabah. Wish I could posts some photos here but since they are copyrighted materials, I believe I can only post the link here. :'(

For those with a 'weak' heart and emotionally unstable, please proceed with care. It's makes me wonder how come none of these photos made it to our local newspapers to illustrate us the severity of the incident. :o

To Matt, great job with them photos!!

some questions from me:
1. how does turtle meat taste like? good? is it more of aphrodisiac?
2. those turtle (dead ones) in the pics are all look like as if they have been embalmed. looked stiff. heads are all up.

hope someone can enlighten a bit. thanks.

The magistrate court slapped them with RM1.8m fine which they cannot pay, so they'll be jailed between 6 to 18 months... and after that they'd be scot free and will repeat their offence! Grrrrr! What sort of deterrent factor is that? 6 to 18 months in lieu of RM1.8 million??? They should be shot! Or better yet, tie them up like how they tied the poor turtles and throw them to the red ants or kerengga! Skoopid idiots!  :'(

they will opt for jail. our jails are so much better conditions. don't we even try to compare jail-to-jail. ;-)

deterrent? no.. more of them will flock into our waters.

can't help squirming reading your posting, especially the part about throwing them off to the red ants and kerengga.

Looks like even a hefty fine do not deter these ppl from poaching into our waters. The cases that were made public is quite remote but I'm glad to see and hear that the response we get is huge in MUW....! I'm just wondering whether our "SAY" here in MUW can take these type of cases to somewhere higher....???? What can WE do to contribute....? Any suggestion guys..?

What we can do is to write an article on how we feel and post it in the newspapers.. we do have journalists in our circle and some influential people in here. OR appear in those TV programmes like Majalah 3 or etc. Malaysia is a place where actions will only be done if the matter been publicised like gile babs (thoroughly) made into big a hoo haa.  :-?

So sickening! they are sick!
This will never ever stop. >:(
As long as the buyers from restaurant and med shop keep buying it.
We need like a scientific  research proving that maybe turtle meet and etc is very poisonous. But still they will hunt for it
But then they still believe this turtle thing could improve their sex drive or improve whatever wrong in their body.. which is stupid.
Now have VIAGRA what??
We have like thousands of herb.
Why in the world the choose turtle?oo yea not forgetting the tigers, shark, whales and others.
Sick Sick Sick!
