« on: February 24, 2009, 12:18:52 PM »

Hi kids! :)

Great news!

Upon the launching of IYOR ’08 (International Year of the Reef 2008) and the success of the SIP (Sustainable Island Programme) last year, Sime Darby Plantation has continue to sponsor (APPROVED! :)) another 1.5 years for the programme, thanks to Shafie *:)* from Wild Asia for her hard work.

So, what's happening for this year's SIP programme?
1) Survey trips for certified EcoDivers (Reef Check).
   - New places for us to go – Aur and Tenggol, yeayy! :)

2) Eco-checks and workshops at resorts in Tioman and Perhentian (Wild Asia and Reef Check).
   - Continuing the efforts last year, the same activities will be done with the local community, dive and resort operators to deal with

With the additional trips, we hope that more new sites will be surveyed this year.

Registration for these sponsored survey trips are on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can participate in all of the trips, but don’t be too kiasu-lar . Please inform earlier if there are cancellations so others can get involved. Maximum of 10 Ecodivers for each trip.

Expenses wise, the sponsored amount does not include transportation and dive equipment rental. Only ex-jetty covered (ferry return, accommodation, dives and meals).

So, Ecodivers mark these dates on your calendar and start applying for your annual leaves!

Cheers!

Hi Arewhere,

Are you a certified Ecodiver?

This trip is only for those who have an Ecodiver card and those who are going for the Ecodiver island base training.

 :)

Hi Free Diver,

As I mentioned to Arewhere, this programme is only for certified Ecodivers, those who did the Ecodiver Course and those who are going to be certified soon.

If you are interested to take the course before the survey trips, please PM me or you can read about the course here: http://malaysianunderwater.com/smff/index.php/topic,4664.0.html

:)
