Right inside Kota Kinabalu low cost carrier terminal, there is a frozen seafood store selling this:

It is a Napolean wrasse head weighing 8.2 kg. Napolean wrasse is listed as endanger by IUCN, but unfortunately only a handful of countries are seriously protecting their existence, and Malaysia is not one of them.

looks like something out of a horror movie...haiyo.... why la..... mcm takde benda lain nak makan ( as if there is nothing else to eat ) .... is there any value in eating that particular fish..?? is it suppose to increase your health or sexual thing..?? haiyo.... ish very very sad.....

Sad to say it is. Napolean wrasse fetches high dollars in Hong Kong and China. I've never tasted one, so cannot comment why it's so highly priced.

I don't eat any seafood at all so have no idea but the Nap was being sold for USD24.00 per 100 grams when I was there last and this is just one of the many "delicacies" that are openly sold at the seafood centre.

So very sad to go there and see what is killed, sold and eaten

i think this is more like picking up whatever is at the end of the line.
But then again on my trips to KK i've seen restaurant breeding napoleans......

It should be made illegal they are so rare as it is...they are so afaid of us now... Even when i skin dive they run away now

thanks bajaulaut for highlighting this to the press.... it should be given more exposure.
Conservation efforts on our seas are not given enough exposure... i see more liwat story cause people are generally horny in nature

This does not include Stone Fish (which the Honkies cook in various ways) and the Barramundi Cod ( Loh Shi Pan), another delicacy with the Chinese and our own Malaysians.

I have stopped the practice of telling anyone that I spotted this beautiful fish on local dives after one experience where the divemaster for our group went back to the dive site after we got back, with a home made pole spear, and was the poor fish (I think) was spotted cooked and served on the staff dining table and the DM was practically a hero!
