An Inconvenient Truth.
« on: April 23, 2008, 12:27:34 PM »

Yesterday i was lucky to be able to catch this documovie on HBO. It is presented by Al Gore and deals with the global warming issue.

If you are concern about the welfare of future generations and our own current generation in fact, as we are stating to see the effect of global warming, please watch this movie.

It will explain and show the cause and effect of global warming and what we can do about it.

We divers are greatly effected by this. coral bleaching is discuss on the update part of the movie after the end credits.

We divers dont go deep or dive the Blue. We play the reefs. If the corals goes...heh..well... better start thinking of taking up tech diving or buy a submarine.

Futher info can be acess from www.climatecrisis.net BUT I MUST WARN YOU, THE PAGE SOMETIMES DONT LOAD AND IF YOU GO THRU THE ADRESS BAR YOU EXPLORER MAY CRASH. THIS REEK OF FOUL PLAY!!!

Saw the movie at TGV some time back when they had a private screening for MISC/PETRONAS.

I just hope the got the relationship between CO2 and the global warming right.

What I'm trying to say is........if we take all the recommended steps to reduce CO2 emmision and then find the global temperatures are still going up, then what???

In thermodynamics, you will see that heat is a form of energy. (It therefore cannot be destroyed)

When we cool our houses, buildings, offices, cars, hotels, etc. we are bringing down the temperature of these places below the ambient temperature and dissipating the heat removed from those places to the atmosphere. (You can go to www.howstuffworks.com to understand refrigeration cycles)

Could it be that this additional heat energy that we throw out everyday be a contributor too???

We can also try some small steps like using the fan a bit more rather than AC and if it's cool outside..switch of the AC and open your windows while driving. (Of course the smell is different pollution la..... :P :P)

Hello Nanda.

The relationship between CO2 and the rise in tempreture is logical. this is blind faith that we/i layman put on the scientis. hope they got it right.

if we take the steps and the tempreture still goes up, then God have mercy on our soul. but the steps taken are good steps, regardless,if it does not contribute to the reduction, then i bet we will benefit in other parts. we must look at this as a whole, not in pieces.

you got a point there. i would agree with you if you are trying to say that the heat emmissions by us may contribute to global warming. even though they dont mention this in global warming debate, but it seems logical, albeit insignificant. either way, cutting down on those appliances mention, if not reduce global warming, at least it reduce our electricity bill.

a statement in the movie which made me think and i agree with it:- to contribute to the reduction on CO2 emmisions and reduction on global warming, we need to change our life style.
