Keeping fit for Diving
« on: February 13, 2007, 06:30:40 PM »

Face it most of us don't really keep fit for diving, i myself am a true example. The only time that i really take effort to work out or build stamina is 1-2 weeks prior to a trip. Now this is bad. Anybody there has a regular health regime that works for you? Care to share?. Mebbe some basic tips or workouts on keeping in shape and fit? We all know that keeping in good physical condition is good for diving, less fat easier for nitrogen to off gass from the body, reduces air consumption, less fatigue and can handle situations better underwater. Maybe instead of going for TT, we can have MUW weekly sport session? futsal ke, badminton ke, swimming ke? what do you folks think? would love to hear from you all  :)

Your ticker on Bali trip is still more than 2 months. Plenty of time to work on those lemaks.
Sign up for that golf session. Or go with me to Fitness First, we 'disturb' those personal trainers.. heh heh.. ;-)

Then you can show off your muscle later in Bali... wow! :o

oh to my slender friends..i will not mention names  ;D..slender don't mean you are fit ok? i honestly think cardio workout is the most effective in keeping fit. Love to swim but the public pool here in bangsar closes at 8pm (too early for me, sometimes not back from office yet). I do ocassional jogging/walking during the weekends when weather permits and badminton's on thursdays after 8pm :). In between office hours take the stairs instead of the lift :) helps too.

i used to do that with my sisters kids.

Problem is, they now still remember those 'uplifting' moments and request for it whenever i see them - and they are now 10lbs heavier.....

 :o :o :o :o

Guys, guys guys...

A distinguished Diving Medicine Physician told me once, if u can't swin 200metres in 5 minutes (any type of stroke), then tak payah lah gi diving. This is so because if u get drifted apart from ur dive group, u will need the upper body strength to swim back to ur group, and if u're against the current, then GOOD LUCK...

Actually, that was not to scare u guys. I advise on swimming to build ur upper body strength sebab in diving, upper body strength is of utmost importance. Cardio workout may be find for total body conditioning, but swimming is the best for ur torso. Kalau lagi bagus, try doing >10pull-ups (palm facing forward - to build ur lattisimus dorsi muscles instead of ur biceps...) everyday.

Any further info on building upper body strength, please refer to Mens' Health mag, hehehe...
