hey, i always get headache after a dive, any adv??

Vomit during diving

i always get headache after a dive as well when i just started..since then, what i did was, to ascend slowly..the headaches reduced substantially after that..if its a deep dive, multi-level safety stops(<---correct ar the term) will help oso..

Perhaps you should seek medical advice.... just to be safe. But as far as i know, when my buddy had her first dive experience, she vomitted and had headaches during surface interval. Many dives later, problem cured itself. So if your problem persist, perhaps you should see doctor.....

  well try again this weekend if the prob persist... then i'll go check it out...

There are several reasons for getting headaches post-dive:

1) not enough sleep the night before, or consumption of alcohol (hangover)

2) holding breath when diving (CO2 retention and build-up)

3) breathing of engine fumes (sitting too close to boat's engines)

4) erratic dive profile

5) tank sits too high on BCD

6) ascending too fast

7) too much nitrogen build up

8) DCS

i hav no idea y but apparently if i drink lots of fluids b4 diving i dont get headaches

i agreed with SeaDemon on points no 1,3 & 6... when i  for diving, i really need a gud night rest, drink a lot of water the night before ur first dive & between dives plus try not to breathe the smoke from the boat engine or fuel fume, sometime from smokers as well...  no effence to anybody... and if u dive with running nose, that also will contribute to the headache not to mention if u r a sinus patient, u will easily get headache during & after dives...

there is one time i go for diving with not enough sleep, i got headache + reverse block + bloody nose... it was so painful at that time... it last for 3 weeks(reverse block)... hardly balance myself when walking, hardly listen to people coversation, talking to people will be a diff thing to do & diff to sleep...  manage to do only 3 dives during the trip...

also another aspect to be look at is your headache may be due to contaminated air on tank...CO (carbon monoxide) poisoning ....which can cause headache...its tasteless and it does not smell....so to detect it may be difficult..may originate from exaust fumes....usually the case..
