i swear by the following on a diving day:

Power: 1. 1 dose of Kopi Ginseng Tonkat Ali CNI
           2. 1 Bar of Sneakers.

Maintainance: 1.H2O with a bit of salt.
           2. 70% simple and 30% complex carbohydrates.
            3. A lot of protein.

Prevention: 1. Intensive warm up at the start of the day.
        2. Adequate thermal protection.
        3. Dont over eat.
                  4. Enough rest the night before

i sometimes during pre-dive, offer to zip up female diver's wetsuits. does that count?

Hahahahaa!!!   ;D  ;D  ;D  Hmmm......this one is little bit tricky and debatable to be defined as a "Taking Supplement Before Diving"   Can only be answered by the boys if they usually takes this "supplement"  ;)  Well,  I guess if such "supplement" is an energy booster,  then.... maybe....

Next time, I'll check my pre/post heart rate. then maybe got some hard data to report.

Spazm,
altho my preference is obvious, sometimes i also have to help non-females zip up, thats bcos "daddy tak bias".

Its good if you consume lotsa non alcholic beverages before diving......personally my supplement...NESCAFE  :) :) :) :) :)

thats how you begin your day!

ps.nescafe is categorize as diuretics...it causes body not to retain water...so you'll be peeing a lot!
dehydration.

Yea,  this recommendation sounds reasonable and workable...... err...... but I presume the kopi tongkat ali CNI can be replaced by kopi kacip fatimah  ;D ;) :D    But,  ya,  I personally feel really dehydrated after diving.. too much of salt water and dry compressed air.  Some divers even recommend on top of drinking more water,  we should take more juicy type of fruits like watermelon and pear onboard for snacking in between dives during surface intervals.

The part of taking more protein and less carbo,  so far,  not been practising because most of the time, eat bread or sandwich in the morning,  rice/noodle for lunch and most of the time buffet dinner is served at the hotel,  so I guess been eating more carbo than protein...... Now,  must take note of the type of food intake  :)

Definately need more rest before and after a long day of diving...........want to start afresh for the following day too  ;)

Come to think of it, at least it would make women with yeast infection smell better. More like the smell of coffee with cheese sandwich. ::) :-?

Aiyooo...bro. That is my favourite la. I normally skip the salt. I just like half a bottle of vinegar with my fish.

Yes yes,  water is important especially for divers like me who don't use regulator with "moisturisers".........hehehe........those type of regulator are quite expensive I think  :o  So, the cheaper alternative is to replenish ourselves with water during surface interval :)

I remembered my throat feels really dry and uncomfortable during my OW course especially when I need to clear my mask underwater,  being a new student,  while clearing mask, I also accidently sucked in some sea water through my nostrils..........yikes the sea water is SOOOooo salty........and made me feel like my throat is becoming "ikan masin" due to the salt and the dry air  >:(  :'(

Hmmm........ maybe taking a mints during dive would help to sooth the dry throats as well.  Anyone tried taking mints during dive before?  does it help to reduce the "dry throat" feeliing?
 :)
