Dive or not to dive during the monsoon?
Do i want to follow or not to follow?
Do i want to gamble or not?

This is one of the news last year. These divers went on a dive trip when
it was in the early stage of the monsoon season.
When you read it , it has nothing to do with the wheather. Nothing mentioned about the
condition of the sea. It was a mechanical fault
Though some public accuse the authorities and blaming them for not saying anything to stop any water activities during the monsoon season.
This year the authorities make announcement at the news paper to stop any water activities to most populated islands in the east cost. I assume it is just a way for the authorities to show that they have done their part but if the public wish to ignores them, then up to them.

Just contact with your friends or resort on the wheather condition, so that you'll be ready for anything.

KEMAMAN - Umpama mati hidup semula.
http://www.kosmo.com.my/kosmo/content.asp?y=2010&dt=1108&pub=Kosmo&sec=Negara&pg=ne_04.htm

Thailand and Up north malaysia will be flooded soon. Doubt the viz and sea condition will be doing any better.

I recommend a place where there is no current. Can dive all year round. As expensive as Payar. Lots of fishes. The viz is clear and you have a personal guide with you. There is no other place than the aquriaklcc.

Just got back from mantabuan 2 weeks ago, had rain with chopy water all day, not a sun insight. All fellow guest are cold (even though they are caucasian) not a sun insight. In fact the temperature are warmer under water, so the diving are welcome refuge from the cold in the dive boat. When we are finish diving, we had back to semporna, the wave are picking up, I estimate about 1 meter or below, look pretty scary from dive boat, especially the wave direction is align with our direction, and it got our boat rocking side to side,  so the boatmen have to do zig zag maneuver, and got nasty bang on the head while doing that, so he cut the speed, all this, while the rain is picking up. Got me thinking of the decision. While there, I got a chat with the boatman, he told me, this is not the worst he ever had, saying a year ago, got the same situation while coming back from mabul, had his engine dead, and have to wait for another boat to tow his boat.  This is not my first experience of having rainy day of diving, but this is the scariest

I had similar experience in Redang in May. Scared the hell out of us. Safety first!
